4 new nightmares enter the frame with the Zombicide 2nd Edition Urban Legends Abomination Pack. As if this game wasn’t already challenging enough for those who are trying to survive. These urban legends have made it that much harder once again and here is how. I’d like to give you a little peek inside the box of what these 4 abominations bring to the game and my experience of fronting up to them. It has been a touch painful…

Killer Clown

If this abomination is coming out, ideally you face it early. This one strips all survivors of the last skill they earned through an adrenaline bonus. At the point in the game the amount of zombies entering the frame is ramping up, your team are losing their advantage when this abomination appears. It really isn’t what your survivors need, but then there is never a good time for an abomination. Your survivors in the yellow zone drop back to just 3 actions only, which is probably the most stinging disruptor from this abomination. Take it down quickly.

Chupacabra

This one could be the least threatening out of this set, maybe? It cannot be killed in the dark zones on the map, which are within the buildings. So you do have to draw this one out and may make it particularly devastating on some boards. This one caused a bit of a stir online with the night time rules and flashlight use. Does every zone become a dark zone at night? Can you light up a zone with a flashlight? The debate was settled with the dark zones on the game board only. So very simply don’t get caught up in a dark room with this one. It’s such an obvious tactic but true!

Abductor

I could use explicit words to describe this abomination. It’s just an outrageous one. Like every other abomination going it needs the damage of 3 to kill it, but the special abilities this one comes with are off the scale.

This one, first of all, ignores the dark zone and line of sight rules in the darkness. It is treating the game as if it is in the daylight and that is far from ideal, particularly if you are in the darkness. This is because its most damaging ability is to remove 1 survivor from the board that it has line of sight to. Your survivor is just… abducted! It does this after it has activated. Your survivor returns to the same space it was abducted from after the abomination’s next activation. Then the abductor does it again, which could well lead to the same survivor being abducted, again.

There are no words. Just hide from this one until you can take it down. To lose fighting capacity is horrendous. Evade, run, avoid, it is not good otherwise and ruined our game many times.

Sewer Crocodile

Arguably the worst saved till last. Each of these abominations has a card with its rules inscribed on it. Deal this card randomly to one survivor. This survivor is the target for the Sewer crocodile and it ignores all the other rules for movement to survivors, this one just has its single target. Oh yeah, it activates twice also. It goes at the pace of a runner!!!

So the top tip here is to first of all, not be the player to get dealt this card. You have so limited time to deal with this one, I pray you have the kit already or it will make a mess of you. If it catches up and kills the survivor and doesn’t lose you the game, deal this card on to a new target.

All these abominations bring a huge level of intensity and excitement to the game in play. The stress instantly created on how to deal with these beasts and it gets players around the table engaged straight away. You need to work together and assess otherwise you are in big trouble. Of course, don’t forget all the other zombies present as well. An abomination is just one Zombie after all….

Final Thoughts

If you were unsure about whether or not to pick up this Urban Legends Abomination Pack to enhance your game. I hope this review aids in the decision process and highlights that these abomination variations are a very worthy addition to Zombicide. There is so much excitement and anticipation drawing a weapon card, drawing the abomination cards is the total opposite to this, full of fear and anxiety, enjoy!
