A fantasy scene depicting armored warriors with helmets and flowing capes, wielding weapons in a dynamic, misty landscape. The mood is intense and epic.

“Forged in the eternal dance between two deities, Chaos and Order, the world of Deuslair is rife with danger at every turn. As a humble servant to your curiosity, I’ve faced these perils, meticulously chronicling them for your enlightenment. This bestiary captures only a fraction of the wonders witnessed during my numerous travels across this land. Yet each entry, filled with my knowledge, serves as a testament to the horrifying existence of these creatures - their anatomy, primal instincts, and the terrors unleashed upon hapless souls who cross their path.

I present to you the Deuslair Bestiary”

Thank you in advance for taking time to read my review for the Deuslair Bestirary. So even if you are an experienced DM or new to running adventures for your table, you might be asking why you need another monster manual? Well this review will help you decide if this Bestiary is for you.

Thank you in advance for taking time to read my review for the Deuslair Bestirary. So even if you are an experienced DM or new to running adventures for your table, you might be asking why you need another monster manual? Well this review will help you decide if this Bestiary is for you.

This Bestiary is a full colour hardback book that is fully compatible with the current D&D 5
Edition, this is a full supplement for the world of Deuslair created by Archon Studios part of their Dungeons & Lasers range.

What makes this book different?

Unlike some bestiaries out there is not just page after page of stat blocks and a collection of images. This book feels like a narrative story written on the experiences of meeting these creatures. Some of the side of Chaos and those on the side of Order. What I feel makes this book a must have for your collection is the writing of the lore that plays the line between gritty and high fantasy, words that helps bring life to their range of plastic miniatures.

Monster Descriptions

As I mentioned these entries which feels more like a journal are not just pages of stats. The descriptions are detailed and full of depth from how their anatomy works and how they are tied to dark magic, if they have fangs or sharp cutlasses to attack the players.

Each creature has its own stat block and where they reside in Deuslair and how they behave that gives the DM a lot of information so that encounters feel like they are living and breathing rather than being a sterile encounter.

The monsters aren't just bags of hit points; they often include creative reactions and legendary actions that challenge even seasoned players.

Whilst the monsters have been created to fit in the Chaos and Order in the world of Deuslair these monsters and creatures could be encountered in any dark fantasy setting.

Artwork

What I really like in this book is the close tie into the range of miniatures so for those gamesmasters who like a table presence, all the artwork is clean and tight that fits in totally with the unique background of the world.

It has its own distinct flair and design that feels dark and brooding that fits the world of Deuslair perfectly.

Final thoughts

I personally feel that this is an essential purchase for any gamesmaster to have in their collection as it adds a new perspective on monster manuals and allows the gamesmaster to add some dark gritty monsters to their world or encounters.

I hope that this is the first in a line of monster books for their future releases, fingers crossed.
