Garphill Games just announced a few new projects for the coming year and a couple have really caught my eye. Shem Phillips and Sam Macdonald are easily one of the most consistent and exciting designer duos around and they've created so many brilliant games so far that I own and have played.
First, the one I'm most excited about! Wallguards of the East Empire, the first in what I'm assuming will be a new East Empire Trilogy (following on from the West Kingdom, North Sea and South Tigris trilogies). In this new deck building game, you will be playing citizens of Constantinople, building defences, deploying ships and defending the city walls.
Additionally, Paladins of the High Crown has been announced for next year, which is intended as a spiritual successor to Paladins of the West Kingdom. The West Kingdom games are all excellent, and offer different mechanics and approaches in each game, and with Paladins you would be gathering workers to build outposts and fortifications. Not much information has been released on this, and I wonder if it opens up an opportunity to revisit other games in the West Kingdom in the coming years!
Kickstarter pages are open to be followed on the Wallguards of the East Empire and we are excited to get more information when it comes out!
