Games night: a fun trio of party games!

Bright promotional image for a trio of party games. From left to right: pink with caution tape, black with a ghost outline, orange with a smiley face. Bold text overlay reads: 'Games Night: A Fun Trio of Party Games!' The tone is playful and inviting
This week, a night of party game fun was had. And what's better, it was on a work night, so the (consumable) tea was flowing, the pjs were on, and it made it feel like a weekend!

These games had me and my friends howling with laughter. At one point, I had ab ache from the workout and joyful, playful hysteria. It was FABULOUS. I'm not going to say the next word that I want to say now, because I think that might just be copyrighted.

Starting with...

SUDDEN DEATH: A PARTY GAME TO DIE FOR

This game was iconic. If you've struggled with grief, you've been poorly yourself, or you have worked in healthcare, you might just have a dark sense of humour as a coping strategy! Well, if you're similar to me that is, anyway. But yes, acting out impossibly random ways to die was weirdly healing. And yes, I got on the floor. And no, my friends didn't guess it right, and it was perfectly impossible to guess theirs too. The black box packaging (not an insurance scheme for new drivers, I promise!) was iconic, especially if you love eerie stuff, Halloween, or simply just love the doom and gloom life and anything that reminds you of the misery. Perfect size to take with you on a work trip or birthday party, maybe just wait until you're tucked up inside the accommodation before you dig into the deck of cards, to avoid funny looks or triggering any Karen characters in public.

Secondly, NOT SAFE FOUR WORDS

Everything about this game screams Hen party. And yes, I will of course be taking it and offering it up to play, giggle and smile at, for my cousin's one this summer. If we can fit it in, between the Riverside sauna/ice bath combo, the cheese and cracker platters and me watching them on paddleboards (I have one, so I refuse to pay for one). The hot pink aesthetic is absolutely iconic and gives gorgeous Barbie energy. Feminity at its best. Wild and in your face, funny and charismatic. This game felt like a cross between boggle and a girly version of cards against humanity. It was funny, and would be a good icebreaker at a hen party for sure.

AND BEST FOR LAST: JUDGING STRANGERS IS FUN

This was our favourite. So so so good. It made me realise how much of a good storyteller I am! I haven't written stories since I was at college, but maybe I'll start again! It was so iconic, thinking on the spot about the stories behind the most random and unfortunate of names, turning them from a Jane doe parody to people with lives. Very very very niche lives, and lots of "problems", but lives nethetheless. I think what drew me in, when unboxing, was the handwriting-style font. I'm a massive nerd who still misses school age almost 30, and handwriting still gets me every time- it intrigues me and I love seeing what handwriting people have- especially as it's becoming sadly, less uses now with all this tech. Now I sound closer to 90. Oh well, authenticity is beautiful and all that. Right?! Also, those Halloween colours schemes. So perfect. Just great. This game is honestly on par with Everdell. That is a HUGE compliment.

Thank you to the makers of these 3 varied and snappy games for making my evening!
