Get ready to rhyme in Santa Banter, a festive and surprisingly challenging party game.
This one came out at just the right time of year for us. It hits that sweet spot of silly, loud, and just enough thinky to make everyone feel clever one minute and completely stuck the next.
Objective
Pick a card and reveal three Christmas rhymes. Your mission is to get your team to guess as many as possible in 30 seconds. Same deck, three rounds, escalating chaos.
How It Plays
Round 1: Describe It
You can describe the rhyme without using any of the written words. This always starts out feeling easy and then immediately falls apart in the funniest way. Lots of almost saying the word and panicking.
Round 2: Riddle Time
Now you can only use riddles. This is where the game really rewards clever clue giving. Some riddles land perfectly. Some absolutely tank. Both outcomes are entertaining.
Round 3: Act It Out
No talking at all. Just acting. Pure mime chaos. This is always our loudest and funniest round and the one people remember most.
If you are a fan of rhyming games and Monikers style party games, this one will feel very familiar in a good way.
Pros
- Loud, silly, and high energy
- Instant holiday vibes
- Fun mix of creative clue giving and quick thinking
- Great for groups and team play
- Plays fast and does not overstay its welcome
- Easy to explain and jump into
- Can easily be played anywhere
Considerations
My biggest concern is that Santa Banter is very Christmas specific. The rhymes lean heavily into Christmas culture, so I am not totally sure how well it would translate to it outside this beautiful time of the year, unless you are big on recreating Christmas throughout the year.
For a non festive version, try Obama Llama or for non rhyme similar party game, Monikers.
Bottom Line
Santa Banter is a great pick for holiday gatherings when you want something light, loud, and full of laughs. It is not trying to be deep. It is trying to make everyone yell Christmas rhymes at each other, and it absolutely succeeds. Cheers to celebrating Christmas any time of the year. Now gather your friends and enjoy a game.
