This year, our chosen charity is The Feed. Want to find out more about them? You’ve come to the right place:
“Through the power of food, our mission at The Feed is to empower communities in Norwich, ensuring each and every person has the support to eat well, live well, and feel connected.
By providing safe spaces at the heart of the community and a holistic programme of projects and 1:1 support, we can reduce inequalities, raise aspirations, and create a shared culture of strength and kindness.
The projects we run include:
– Social Supermarket: offering free and low-cost healthy food to thousands of local people facing the rising cost of living, with half of our members having someone with a disability in their household.
– First Steps: connecting hub members to crucial services like housing support, debt advice, and mental health resources.
– Cook, Eat, Grow: a hands-on class teaching budget-friendly, healthy cooking skills every fortnight.
– Bloom: a 10 session programme for women, ran by women, aimed to boost wellbeing, reduce feelings of isolation and increase employability skills.
To give you an example of the impact our programmes have, here are some quotes…
This is how a member describes the Social Supermarket – “It has made my shop doable and allows me to get fruit and veg for the children. Everyone in the shop is so kind, warm and helpful.”
Here is how a former Bloomer described her reasons for joining onto our Bloom programme – “Bloom for me, I guess the reason I wanted to come in was to meet new people and find myself.”
And we have stats to back up the difference we make as well. For example…
100% of member said they’re more likely to cook from scratch than buy frozen foods, thanks to our Cook, Eat, Grow sessions. With 100% of members who participated also saying they’ve learnt what a healthy diet entails.
Our project lead of our First Steps programme made 215 referrals last year.
Your donations mean we can help more people in our city, through these programmes and more.”
