Cyberpunk 2077 TCG is coming

Of all the places Cyberpunk 2077 could expand next, “trading card game” probably wasn’t at the top of anyone’s predictions – and yet, the more the evidence piles up, the more it feels like the most natural evolution in the world. Night City already lives in our screens, our RPG tables, our shelves… so why not our deck boxes?

Over the last few months, the quiet rumble of clues has grown into something much louder.

How We Got Here

There hasn’t been a megaphone-style announcement from CD Projekt RED just yet, but you don’t need Kiroshi optics to spot what’s going on. Several things hit the community radar almost at once:

  • Trademark paperwork began shifting to cover collectible card games – both physical and digital.
  • A handful of artists tied to GWENT and Edgerunners casually mentioned they’d jumped onto a new, “card-related” project.
  • Established tabletop partners suddenly had openings in their production schedules.
  • CDPR has been repeatedly emphasizing its push to grow Cyberpunk beyond video games, especially after Edgerunners revived mainstream interest in the setting.

Individually, those details could be nothing. Together? They paint the outline of a TCG glowing in neon.

A Glimpse at What the Game Might Be

Nothing official has leaked mechanically, but the rumors circling the industry all point in the same direction – and the shape they form is very Cyberpunk.

Early reports suggest:

  • Faction-driven decks built around the most recognizable groups in Night City, from Arasaka and Militech to Maelstrom and MAXTAC
  • A dynamic Heat system that escalates corporate or police involvement
  • Cyberware slots that upgrade characters, mimicking the game’s loadout feel
  • Netrunning mini-challenges acting as sub-games or alternate win conditions
  • Job and Contract cards reflecting the gig-life chaos Cyberpunk is known for
  • And yes, cards featuring Edgerunners and 2077 characters – because if Lucy, Rebecca, V, or Johnny don’t show up early, the community will absolutely riot

If even half these mechanics survive to the final product, this won’t be a simple “slap a license on it” affair. It sounds like a game that wants to feel like Night City – dangerous, stylish, and full of choices that bite back.

The Big Question: Who’s Making It?

CDPR tends to collaborate rather than go solo on tabletop projects. Their usual partners? R. Talsorian for RPGs, Go On Board for board games, and CMON for plastic-filled spectacle. Any of these would make sense, though the current whispers lean toward either Go On Board or CMON. There’s also chatter about Rebel / Asmodee Poland stepping in – an option that would instantly give the game global reach.

When Could This Hit the Table?

Looking at production cycles, licensing timelines, and CDPR’s renewed Cyberpunk roadmap, the most realistic rollout looks like:

  • Announcement: Late 2026
  • Release window: Sometime in 2027

Conveniently, that lines up with both the expanding Edgerunners universe and the early hype machine for Cyberpunk Orion, the next major game in the franchise.

Why It Could Actually Be Huge

Cyberpunk has all the ingredients a TCG dreams of: distinct factions, standout characters, a gear system practically begging for buildcrafting, and a fanbase that really just wants another excuse to dive back into Night City. Unlike most new TCG launches, this one wouldn’t be starting from scratch – it would already have a fully realized world and an army of fans behind it.

If the execution lands, this could easily become one of the decade’s standout trading card releases.

Whenever CDPR decides to flip the switch, expect people to sprint to their local game stores like they’ve just activated a Sandevistan. Night City has always been about style, survival, and stacking the odds – and soon, maybe the deck – your way.
