Agricola Dead Harvest Takes On Zombies

There’s a lot of things you’d expect to find on a farm. There’ll be chickens cluck-clucking around and ensuring we have enough eggs for our muffins. There’ll be fields, so that somewhere down the line someone can make the Weetabix I enjoy in the mornings. There’ll be cats that should be chasing mice but instead spend their time ogling pies through windows (according to the cartoons I watched as a kid). One thing you could probably do without: zombies. They are such a pain in the bum. Or neck. Or upper arm. Or wherever it is that they bit you. Well, guess what? Zombies are on your farm as well, sucka! And you’d better find a way to cope.

Agricola: Dead Harvest from Awaken Realms reimagines Uwe Rosenberg’s iconic farming game in a thrilling post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Farmers must defend their land from the unyielding pest while managing resources to endure. Strategic planning, intense survival mechanics, and relentless undead threats create a unique fusion of farming and horror, offering high replayability and a fresh challenge for both Agricola veterans and newcomers. Can you protect your farm, sustain your people, and survive the harvest?

The answer to this question – at least as far as I’m concerned – is probably not. I can barely coordinate my own two feet to get me into the kitchen and back without some sort of slip or trip, so protect, sustain and survive sounds like more than I can reasonably juggle at once. Agricola: Dead Harvest is a way out yet – release date is posted as the space year 2026, which means gameplay details are currently thin on the ground, but many of you have already played Agricola, so I imagine adding bloody-hungry zombies to that will give you a flavour of what to expect.

Small axe to grind from me – a game that is not due out for at least a year already has 80 ratings on BGG. Anyone have an explanation for this? Personal opinion, but it’s the kind of behaviour that renders the website a bit of a joke. Let’s all avoid pulling the kind of antics reserved for the Star Wars fandom and wait and see how the game turns out, eh? Okay, I’m putting the axe away, at least until the zombies turn up. Shamble along to this page so that you’re first in line for any updates.

About the author:
