| The T-10 was the final tank in the IS (Iosif Stalin) tank series and significantly improved upon the design of the IS-3 that had terrified the west only a few years earlier. Designed to be used as a breakthrough tank where it could fight effectively in a mobile battle, the T-10 was equipped with a new generation stabiliser that allowed the gunner to get the enemy tank in his sights, wait for the gun and stabiliser to stop wobbling and then fire. This did result in a slower rate of fire compared with previous designs, but it proved to be much more accurate when firing on the move.
