We love a good quiz game in our household, and we’re always looking for one with extra twists to keep us on our toes; and ‘You know it’ by Invisible Typewriter does exactly that.
I also had the pleasure of demoing this game with Zatu Games at the UK Games Expo 2026, and even though I played as the quiz master for over 80 games of You know it, it’s still one of my favourite quiz games out there, and I’m still finding questions that I haven’t answered yet.
In this review, I’ll be exploring what this game has to offer and how the twists throughout add a refreshing change to your average quiz games.
Who knows what?
The first charm to this game is the set up, and just how simple it is. Fold out the board, give each player an answer board, a pen and their coloured tokens, slip a question card into the sleeve and with that you’re ready to go.
You can have the game ready to go and be playing in just a couple of minutes which leaves you with more time to play multiple games during one session. Especially as the reset takes no time at all.
Once you’re playing, it starts off like any other quiz game, you answer five questions and write down your answers; but that’s where the similarities stop. Along with your answers, you need to also write down how many players in the group will also get the question right. This means that even if you get the answer wrong, you can still net a point by reading other people or by taking a guess at their confidence.
Once all questions have been answered and you’ve guessed how many got the answer right, it’s time to add another twist. One player reads a question out, but before the answer is revealed, players must choose whether to bet if another player knows or doesn’t know the answer. Get it right and you score a point, but get it wrong and that point goes to the player you bet on.
These bets can only be used once per round and once the round is over, points are tallied up, pieces are moved around the board and another round begins. This continues until one lucky player is the first to reach 30 points, at which point, we have a winner!
Not your average quiz game
The beauty of this game is that it’s just as much for players that aren’t good at quiz games as it is for those that are. You can genuinely bluff your way to victory by pretending you know the answers and guessing whether the other players will get it right.
The betting mechanic is where you can net some extra points if you’re careful. During the answer phase, keep an eye on how confident players are and remember that when it gets to the betting for that question. Play your token with confidence and watch those points roll in!
Doing it live at UKGE
As I said at the beginning, I had the pleasure of demoing this game at the UKGE and I had an unbelievable amount of fun. Throughout the three days, I guided players through over 80 games worth of questions and rivalry, and the reception was overwhelmingly positive throughout.
Players loved that it wasn’t just about the questions, the extra element when answering and the betting phase levelled the playing field and gave everyone a chance to score points. I honestly think that this was the biggest selling point too.
One highlight that I have to mention was meeting one of the designers and talking to them about the game. It was a pleasure to learn what inspired them to create it and discover how much work went into developing the questions.
Call their bluff
Whilst demoing this game at the UKGE, it quickly grew apparent that bluffing your way through round was a genuine win condition, and it couldn’t have been truer.
Knowing when to act like you don’t know the answer and write down a ‘guess’ at the last second, and when to quickly write down a wrong answer like you’ve known it all your life will win you more points than you think.
And it’s this feature that makes me love this game even more. Even if you’re bad at quizzes, which I am, you can still bluff your way to the win each time; much to your friends' annoyance…
A world of questions
Finally, I can’t go on without mentioning the replayability of this game. There are over 1,000 questions in total spread over 200 cards. Which means you’ll have to play a good few games before you find yourself repeating the questions again.
And even though some of the questions are really obscure, it plays directly into the bluffing element of the game. Even if you don’t know the answer, just pretend like you do. Works every time!
Final thoughts
I honestly can’t express just how unique this quiz game is, and although I was sceptical at first, it’s quickly grown into one of my favourite quiz games on my shelf. The extra elements are what makes this game so good, and the betting phase gets players stuck in immediately.
I can’t recommend picking up a copy of this game enough, and if you’re looking for the next rivalry starter for your upcoming dinner party, this game definitely deserves a place being set.
I’d also love to know what you thought of this game if you decide to pick it up. Don’t forget that you can include us in your posts on all social media using the @zatugames tag.
