Castle Ravenloft returns from the dead!
One of Dungeons & Dragons' most beloved dungeon-crawlers is coming back to the table! Castle Ravenloft is getting an all-new edition from Renegade Game Studios, bringing the classic co-operative adventure back for a new generation of players. The game is set to launch in February 2027, with updated artwork and presentation while keeping the core gameplay that made the original such a hit! Back to Barovia! Originally released in 2010, Castle Ravenloft quickly became a favourite among D&D fans looking for a tabletop adventure without needing to organise an entire roleplaying campaign. The new edition keeps that same basic idea. One to five players take on the role of adventurers exploring the terrifying Castle Ravenloft, battling monsters, collecting treasure, and trying to survive long enough to confront the castle's infamous master, Strahd von Zarovich. Rather than requiring a Dungeon Master, the board game handles the adventure through its cards, tiles, and rules. That makes it a much more straightforward way to experience the world of Ravenloft, especially if your regular D&D group can't commit to a massive campaign! There are 13 different adventures included, giving players plenty of reasons to return to the castle once they've survived their first trip. A fresh look! While the gameplay is staying familiar, Renegade is giving the game a serious visual refresh. The artwork, logos, and graphic design have all been updated to bring Castle Ravenloft more in line with the modern D&D aesthetic. The game will also feature a collection of miniatures, helping bring its monsters and heroes to life on the table. There are two versions planned for release. The standard edition will include unpainted miniatures and is priced at $100, while a premium edition will come with pre-painted models for $200. So, whether you want to paint your own party or simply get straight into the adventure, there's an option available! Face Strahd! At its heart, Castle Ravenloft remains a co-operative dungeon-crawler. Players explore the castle together, encounter enemies, gather treasure, and work through scenarios before eventually facing Strahd himself. The game is also inspired by the wider Curse of Strahd setting, making it a great choice for D&D fans who love the gothic horror side of the game. With its combination of straightforward co-op gameplay, replayable adventures, and a fresh visual makeover, Castle Ravenloft could be an easy way to get a taste of D&D dungeon-crawling without signing yourself up for a campaign that lasts six months! Coming in 2027! The new edition of Castle Ravenloft is scheduled to arrive in February 2027, giving adventurers plenty of time to gather their party. If you've been waiting for an excuse to venture into Strahd's castle, this might be it. Just don't expect the welcome mat to be particularly welcoming!
