Time is running out for tabletop fans to jump into one ambitious sci-fi universe, with the latest crowdfunding campaign for Syncanite Foundation entering its final days!
The new campaign centres around Crimson Protocol, the first major expansion for the dark futuristic strategy game. Whether you backed the original release or are discovering it for the first time, there's still an opportunity to get involved before the campaign closes.
A Return to Syncanite
Designed by novelist and game creator Timon Thöne, Syncanite Foundation is a competitive strategy game for two to four players set in a fractured future where powerful factions compete for influence, resources and control.
Blending area control, negotiation, asymmetric faction abilities and card-driven gameplay, the game aims to deliver a strategic experience wrapped in a detailed sci-fi setting.
The new Crimson Protocol expansion builds on that foundation with additional content, new strategic possibilities and expanded ways for players to navigate the game's political and economic conflicts.
New and Returning Players Welcome
The campaign has been structured to support both existing fans and newcomers. Players who already own Syncanite Foundation can pledge for Crimson Protocol on its own, while new backers can pick up a revised second edition of the base game alongside the expansion.
That updated edition includes previous corrections and errata, while a number of stretch goals have helped unlock upgraded production features. These include thicker components, double-layer player boards, linen-finish materials, enhanced wooden pieces and premium foil cards.
More Than a Board Game?
While the tabletop project remains the current focus, the wider Syncanite Foundation universe may have even bigger plans on the horizon.
According to the team behind the game, recent meetings in Cannes have opened discussions around potential film or television adaptations. While details remain under wraps for now, the prospect of seeing the setting expand beyond books, artwork, music and board games is certainly an intriguing one.
With only a short time left before the campaign closes, the coming days could prove pivotal for the future of the Syncanite Foundation universe.
