A new campaign has gone live on Kickstarter that sees players play as the villain trying to stop a heroic group from thwarting their plans. It's called Dreadquarters, and here's what we know so far about it.
About the Game
From Headlock Games, Dreadquarters is set to be a co-operative board game for 1-4 players. You play as the newest members of the Dreadquarters Villainous Operations Facility, a fortress designed to give protection to any villains in their wall. But beware, if any wing inside this fortress becomes compromised to the meddling hands of the heroic, the entire place will fall.
Players can choose what kind of villain they want to play as, including the Unseelie Court, The Necromancer, the Institute and more. Each type of villain has their individual deck of cards, which holds unique effects and styles.
Gameplay
The game will move through two phases: Build and Defend. In the Build phase, players build their villain lair, setting down tiles, minions, traps, or even exploring near by cities for any supplies they can steal.
In the defend phase, heroes attempt to enter your lair to disrupt your plans and overthrow you, hopefully unsuccessfully.
A Twist in the Plans
The interesting part of Dreadquarters is that there is also an element of social deduction to the game. Each villain has their own win condition, similar to that of Disney Villainous. To win, you must balance between helping your fellow villains, and completing your individual targets.
Pledging on Kickstarter
$325 gets you an All-In-one pledge to this campaign - this includes the Deluxe Edition, a play mat, a Forgotten Relics deck and sticker set, a set of pins, an art books, art prints, and a plush of Insolence, a smiling blood-stained coffee mug.
The campaign has already succeeded it's goal - will you serve the darkness too?
