Monopoly goes galactic and weird with two new releases

Hasbro is adding two new twists to its long-running board game lineup, with fresh Monopoly editions arriving through summer 2026. The new releases include a Star Wars-themed version tied to The Mandalorian and Grogu, plus a new internet culture-inspired take called Brainrot Billionaire.

Both games stick to the familiar Monopoly structure, but lean heavily into themed mechanics and updated win conditions.

A Mandalorian Spin on Monopoly

Monopoly: Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu brings the galaxy far, far away onto the board. Players travel across locations inspired by the film, exploring planets tied to the New Republic era setting.

Instead of only focusing on property collection, this version adds mission-based progression. Every time a player passes GO, they receive a mission that can earn bonus credits. The goal is still to finish with the most wealth, but those extra objectives add another layer to the usual buy-and-trade loop.

The game supports two to six players, is designed for ages 8 and up, and will retail at $24.99. It is scheduled to arrive at major retailers in June 2026.

A Very Different Kind of Monopoly

The second release takes a more modern approach. Monopoly Brainrot Billionaire is aimed at Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences, with a focus on fast-paced collecting and a more chaotic economy theme.

Players still buy properties, but they also collect “brainrot chips” alongside cash and assets. The game ends once all properties have been purchased, and the winner is decided by total wealth combined with properties and chips.

It supports two to six players, is also for ages 8 and up, and will retail at $19.99. This version is scheduled for release in August 2026.

Two Takes on a Familiar Formula

While both games keep Monopoly’s core identity intact, the changes show how Hasbro is continuing to experiment with themed mechanics and audience targeting.

The Mandalorian edition focuses on structured objectives layered over traditional play, while Brainrot Billionaire shifts more toward fast collection and trend-driven design ideas.

Both sit firmly in the family board game space, but each takes a different approach to how players earn and track victory.

With summer 2026 releases lined up, Monopoly is once again getting a refresh in two very different directions at the same time.
