A legendary anime hits the tabletop
Anime fans and tabletop gamers have something exciting to look forward to this summer as Dragon Ball Z: The Board Game Saga prepares to launch on Kickstarter on June 9, 2026. Bringing the explosive action of the iconic anime series to game night tables everywhere, this new release promises huge battles, dramatic transformations, and plenty of over-the-top moments straight from the show.
Created by Lynnvander Studios and published by Pop Art Games, the game is designed for 1 to 4 players and takes fans through some of the most memorable story arcs in Dragon Ball Z history. Players will get the chance to step into the roles of beloved heroes like Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan as they battle famous villains in a campaign packed with action and teamwork.
Episodic battles with classic DBZ energy
The game is split into Episodes, giving it a structure that feels very close to watching the anime itself. Each session plays out through tactical movement, powering up, and dramatic dice-based combat that aims to recreate the energy of the television series. Players build up their Power Levels to unlock more actions, unleash powerful Techniques, and eventually transform into stronger Forms during battle.
Stress management also plays a big role, adding an extra layer of strategy to every encounter. Push your fighter too hard and things can quickly spiral out of control, but smart teamwork and timing could turn the tide of battle at the perfect moment.
According to Tommy Gofton from Lynnvander Studios, the team wanted to make sure the tabletop experience genuinely captured the feeling of Dragon Ball Z.
“There’s an incredible amount of gameplay for Dragon Ball Z fans to enjoy,” Gofton explained. “The episodic delivery and battle sequencing really connects the anime series to the tabletop for an authentic gaming experience fans will enjoy for years to come.”
Easy to jump into for fans and newcomers
While the game is built as a connected campaign, each Episode can also be played on its own. That makes it easy for groups to jump in for a quick standalone session or settle in for a longer adventure through the saga’s iconic battles.
Winning will require players to work together carefully, defeating enemies before villains can collect all seven Dragon Balls or before the clock runs out. With cooperative gameplay, familiar characters, and plenty of nostalgic moments, it sounds like a strong fit for long-time anime fans and tabletop groups looking for something energetic and cinematic.
The Kickstarter campaign will also include exclusive content, with fans already able to sign up for updates and previews ahead of the June launch.
