Rock and bluff!
Deep Rock Galactic is heading back to the tabletop, but this time it's swapping chunky miniatures and cave exploration for fast-paced card battles! Ghost Ship Games and MOOD Publishing have officially revealed a brand new Deep Rock Galactic Card Game, with a Kickstarter campaign set to launch in September 2026. Instead of working together against swarms of alien bugs, players will be trying to outsmart each other through clever tactics, hidden information, and a healthy dose of bluffing!
If you've ever wanted to prove you're the best miner in the company without firing a single bullet, this might be your next favourite game.
A different kind of mining mission!
Unlike the cooperative board game, the new card game is all about competition. Players will battle it out to collect the most Morkite while reading opponents, making bold bets, and deciding when to play it safe or take a gamble. Designed for 2 to 6 players, every game lasts around 15 to 20 minutes, making it perfect for quick sessions between bigger games or a few rounds during game night. The shorter playtime also means plenty of opportunities for rematches, especially when revenge is on the line! While the full rules are still under wraps, Ghost Ship Games has confirmed the game will feature hidden cards, tactical betting, and bluffing mechanics that should create plenty of memorable moments around the table.
Easy to learn!
One of the biggest selling points is accessibility. According to MOOD Publishing, the game has been designed for groups of all experience levels. Whether you're introducing friends to modern board games or playing with seasoned strategy fans, the card game aims to keep everyone involved from start to finish. That lighter approach makes sense. Party games built around bluffing and reading other players often create hilarious moments, and the Deep Rock Galactic universe feels like a natural fit for a bit of friendly competition.
Of course, if your friends already have a habit of stealing loot or making questionable decisions in co-op games, don't expect things to get any less chaotic!
Built on a strong foundation!
This isn't the first time Deep Rock Galactic has made the jump from video games to tabletop gaming. Back in 2022, Deep Rock Galactic: The Board Game launched through Kickstarter and quickly became a huge success. The cooperative adaptation captured the teamwork, mining, and bug-blasting action of the video game while introducing impressive miniatures and tactical gameplay.
Since then, the range has continued to grow with several major expansions. The Space Rig and Biome expansions arrived in 2023, while 2025 introduced even more content through Rival Incursion, the Horrors of Hoxxes biome expansion, and the terrifying Shockwyrm enemy. With such strong support behind the board game, it's no surprise the franchise is expanding once again.
Why Deep Rock Galactic works!
Originally released in 2020 after a successful early access period, Deep Rock Galactic has built one of the most passionate communities in gaming. The cooperative first-person shooter combines procedural cave generation, four unique dwarf classes, destructible environments, and endless swarms of hostile creatures into an experience that's both chaotic and rewarding. Its memorable catchphrase, "Rock and Stone!", has become instantly recognisable among fans, helping the game develop a loyal following that continues to grow through regular updates and seasonal content. Bringing that world into a lighter, competitive card game feels like a natural next step.
Kickstarter launch incoming!
The Kickstarter campaign is expected to launch in early September 2026, with fans already able to follow updates through the Kickstarter NotifyMe page ahead of launch. Gameplay details remain fairly limited for now, but Ghost Ship Games and MOOD Publishing have promised more reveals in the coming weeks, including a closer look at how the bluffing mechanics and tactical betting systems work.
Final thoughts!
Deep Rock Galactic has already proven it can thrive beyond the digital world, and this new card game looks set to offer something completely different from its cooperative predecessor. Fast rounds, competitive gameplay, and plenty of opportunities for bluffing should make it a great fit for casual groups as well as long-time fans of the series.
If you're looking for a game that's quick to play, easy to teach, and packed with opportunities to outwit your friends, this is definitely one Kickstarter worth keeping an eye on. After all, every miner wants the biggest haul. The only question is whether your friends will let you keep it. Rock and Stone!
