The classic murder mystery board game has been transformed into a full-blown theatre experience, complete with comedy, burlesque, live music, outrageous costumes, and plenty of audience interaction. It takes the familiar world of Clue and cranks the dial considerably further than your average game night!
From board to stage
ClueX takes inspiration from the 1985 Clue movie, which itself was based on the iconic board game. Instead of simply sitting around a table trying to work out whether it was Colonel Mustard or Miss Scarlet, audiences are thrown into a live murder mystery of their own. The show originally debuted in Las Vegas in 2024 before returning for a four-month residency at Notoriety Live in 2026. And yes, it still has that familiar murder mystery DNA. There are suspicious characters, secrets, clues, and, naturally, a murder to solve. The big difference is that you're watching everything unfold right in front of you!
It's not quite Cluedo night
ClueX isn't trying to recreate a traditional game of Cluedo on stage. It's a burlesque parody that mixes the mystery with adult comedy, choreography, music, and plenty of audience participation. That audience involvement is a big part of what makes the show different. Rather than simply watching the story from a safe distance, spectators can become part of the investigation as the mystery plays out. It's basically the board game after several energy drinks and a trip to Vegas.

The unusual take on a familiar game has clearly gone down well. In August 2026, Las Vegas Weekly named ClueX its “Best Board Game Brought to Life” as part of its Best of Vegas awards. The publication highlighted the show's combination of costumes, comedy, music, and audience interaction, showing just how far a board game adaptation can stretch when someone decides to throw the rulebook out the window!
What's next for board games?
ClueX is another reminder that board games aren't stuck around the kitchen table. We've already seen games make the jump into films, TV shows, video games, and now increasingly ambitious live experiences. ClueX takes one of the world's most recognisable murder mysteries and gives it a completely different life on stage. So next time someone suggests a game of Cluedo, just remember: somewhere in Las Vegas, someone decided that Miss Scarlet needed a burlesque number.
