A fresh batch of Mega-powered cards is heading to Pokémon TCG Pocket! Pokémon TCG Pocket is about to give collectors another reason to start opening packs, with Deluxe Pack: Mega arriving later this month! Announced on September 24, the latest addition to the mobile Pokémon TCG will bring together cards from several previous expansions, including Mega Rising and Ruler of the Skies. The new pack is designed to give players another chance to grab some of the cards they may have missed, while also introducing fresh artwork and shiny parallel foil versions.
And yes, there are some properly chunky Pokémon involved!
Mega cards incoming!
Deluxe Pack: Mega launches on September 29, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. PDT, giving collectors a new way to expand their collections without relying entirely on older packs. Each pack contains four cards, with every pack guaranteed to include at least one Pokémon ex. That guarantee makes this pack a little different from your standard Pokémon TCG Pocket booster and gives players a better shot at finding some of the game's more sought-after cards. The pack pulls from cards released across several previous expansions, including Mega Rising through to Ruler of the Skies. It will also include reissues of every four-diamond rarity card from those expansions.
So, if there are a few gaps sitting in your collection, this could be a handy opportunity to fill them!
Fancy foils!
Reprints aren't the only thing arriving with Deluxe Pack: Mega. Players can also find parallel foil cards and cards featuring brand-new artwork. That means even if you've already collected a particular Pokémon, there are still new versions worth hunting down. The shiny variants should give collectors another reason to keep opening packs, while the new artwork adds something fresh to familiar favourites. This isn't the first time Pokémon TCG Pocket has used a deluxe pack to revisit previous cards. The original Deluxe Pack ex launched in September 2025 and brought together cards from earlier expansions, alongside new artwork and parallel foil treatments. Deluxe Pack: Mega follows that same general idea, but with the focus firmly on the Mega Evolution era.
Mega Charizard X takes the spotlight!
If you want to make your collection look even more intimidating, Mega Charizard X is getting its own accessories. From September 30, players will be able to grab new covers and backdrops featuring the fiery fan favourite. These can be used to customise your collection and give your cards a suitably Mega-powered home. And with Mega Evolution continuing to play a major role across the Pokémon TCG, there should be plenty of familiar faces turning up in Pocket too. The wider physical Pokémon TCG has also continued to put Mega Evolution front and centre throughout 2026, with expansions and products featuring Pokémon such as Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex.
More changes are coming!
Deluxe Pack: Mega isn't the only thing Pokémon TCG Pocket players have to look forward to. A major update is planned for late October 2026, bringing several changes to how players interact with the game. One of the biggest additions will be Community Decks. This will allow players to search for decks made public by other players and build them themselves, provided they own the necessary cards. The current rental deck system is also being changed. Existing rental decks will disappear, but players will instead be able to rent decks containing cards from the latest booster packs. These new rental decks can be used an unlimited number of times in both solo and versus battles.
Meanwhile, Theme Deck Lists and Deck Missions are being discontinued.
New ways to battle!
Step-Up Battles are also getting a makeover.
The current system will be replaced with a new solo battle mode where the difficulty increases as you progress through different stages. Once the update arrives, the existing Step-Up Battles will no longer be available, meaning their first-time rewards and battle tasks will disappear too. There are also changes coming to the game's ranked play. During Ranked Match Season B4b SP, players will be able to earn more rank points than usual. The win-streak bonus is also being expanded to reward up to 10 consecutive wins. Interestingly, losing won't cost players rank points during this season, and players won't drop down a rank after a defeat.
Events galore!
The new pack is arriving alongside a stack of events. From late September into early October, a Mass Outbreak Event will give players opportunities to find parallel foil cards through Rare Picks and Bonus Picks. Event missions will also offer shop tickets for collecting and picking specific cards. Later in October, players can take part in the Mega Garchomp ex Drop Event, where solo battles can reward B Series Vol. 13 promo packs. A Wonder Pick event will also feature Charmander and Drampa cards. With Deluxe Pack: Mega arriving on September 29 and a sizeable update following in October, Pokémon TCG Pocket certainly isn't running out of things for collectors to chase.
