A brand-new city, new cards, and a fresh mechanic are coming to Disney Lorcana this October! Disney Lorcana is heading somewhere completely new with Hyperia City, the next major expansion from Ravensburger. The upcoming set takes Illumineers into a bustling metropolis where Disney characters are mixing with music, art, nightlife, and, of course, a little bit of trouble! Alongside familiar faces, Hyperia City will introduce Glimmers from Pixar's Coco to Disney Lorcana for the first time. There's also a brand-new gameplay mechanic called ink drops, which could give players some interesting new ways to manage their turns.
The set will have its prerelease on October 16, 2026, before launching everywhere on October 23.
Welcome to Hyperia!
Hyperia City is a completely new setting for Disney Lorcana, with different areas of the city providing the backdrop for the set's cards. Players will explore locations including City Center, Wandering Straits and Old Towne Hyperia, while the colourful Marigold District brings Coco into the game. Characters from the Pixar film can be found performing music in the streets, bringing a bit of that familiar Mexican-inspired world into the wider Lorcana setting. There is also the rather brilliantly named Multidisciplinary Academy for Genius, Imagination, and Creativity, or M.A.G.I.C. for short. That's where characters from Big Hero 6, including Honey Lemon, are busy investigating the mysterious new ink drop technology. And they're probably going to want to keep a close eye on it...
Drop some ink!
Ink drops are the biggest gameplay addition in Hyperia City. The mechanic introduces a new counter that can provide players with one-time-use ink. Players can spend these ink drops to play cards from their hand or potentially power up other cards. That could make resource management a little more flexible, particularly when you're trying to squeeze one more useful action out of your turn. Ravensburger's Lead Game Designer Lukas Litzsinger explained that the team wanted to focus heavily on a single mechanic for the set, with ink drops designed to influence the pace of a game and give players new options when building their decks. So while the mechanic might look simple at first, expect Lorcana players to spend approximately 400 years discovering increasingly complicated ways to use it.
Plenty of familiar faces!
Coco may be making its Lorcana debut, but Hyperia City isn't forgetting the characters players already know. Disney Princesses, Mickey Mouse and plenty of other familiar Glimmers will appear throughout the set, with many of them receiving new Dreamborn versions. The set also gives these characters a slightly different environment to explore. Princesses can be found wandering the city and showing off new looks, while characters such as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootopia are investigating the mysterious ink drops. The new setting also gives Ravensburger plenty of opportunities to experiment with the artwork. The set's Enchanted cards focus on the excitement of a night in the city, while the two Iconic cards feature Mickey Mouse - Best in Town and Cinderella - Unintentional Icon. Iconic cards remain the rarest cards in the game.
What's next?
Ravensburger isn't stopping with Hyperia City. The publisher has already revealed more of what's coming to Lorcana throughout 2027, beginning with Into the Inkdark. The first set of 2027 will take players into the darker depths beneath Lorcana, with a Glimmer of Hades causing trouble and apparently having some rather fiery plans. The set will also introduce a completely new product type for Disney Lorcana: Collector Boosters. These will contain 12 randomised cards, just like standard boosters, but they will also be the only place players can find the new Illustrious cards. These are Lorcana's first serialised cards, with six Illustrious cards in each set and just 23 copies of each card being printed. That's going to make for some seriously tiny numbers when collectors start hunting them down!
Into the cosmos!
Later in spring 2027, Lorcana will leave the city behind and head into space with Cosmic Quest. The set will introduce Glimmers based on characters including Ariel and Flounder, Stitch and his fellow alien experiments. Most excitingly, WALL•E and EVE will make their Lorcana debut. And Ravensburger is already teasing another release for late 2027, although the publisher isn't giving away too much just yet. For now, all eyes are on Hyperia City. With new Coco characters, returning Disney favourites, a completely new setting and the arrival of ink drops, there's plenty for both collectors and players to look forward
