Monkey Palace: second opinion

Overview:

Lego, a game, say whhhhattt, yes it’s a Lego game. You are helping to rebuild the Monkey Palace, long abandoned and in need of some TLC, that’s where you come in. Rebuilding staircases and adding to the palace, the higher the staircase the more points awarded. Aim of the game is to collect the most banana points wins.

Game play:

Setup is outlined in the rule book, which is pretty straight forward.

Ok, time for the nitty gritty, Its your turn, here are the eight basic step:

  • Build your staircase – yes you guessed it use your resources to build those staircases (what you can and can’t do are listed in the rule book)
  • Decorate your staircase – add the corresponding decoration to the end of your staircase, this will depend on your starting point.
  • Count monkey credits – 1 credit for each arch you just put in plus a lovely bonus credit if yours is the tallest staircase.
  • Take monkey cards – Now its spend, spend, spend, use those credits you just earned to buy monkey cards (should warn you can’t keep the monkey credits for next turn, and you can only take the top card off each pile)
  • Take one time delivery – on the credit side of the monkey card you just picked up it’ll show you what you get.
  • Take recurring delivery – once that is done flip the monkey card over and place it on your player board. There are 4 slots available, so you’ve guessed it you’re going to have to cover some up to put the new ones in. Deciding which to keep and which to cover will be the tricky part as you’ll probably want them all
  • Take a bonus card – so if your staircase is at least 5 bricks high you get a nice little bonus card (which is worth 4 bananas) downside you can only take one bonus card a turn.
  • Take trophy cards – Well I can’t tell you everything, I’ll let you enjoy that little surprise all on your own.

The game wraps up when there isn’t enough bricks of one kind for a player to take a the end of their turn from their everyone will finish of a last turn so everyone has played an equal amount of goes.

Then its tally up the points, you flip your cards on your board and the points added equal your score, highest number wins.
