Gigamons review

Overview

Gigamons is a cute 2 to 4 player game for ages 5 and up.

With the aim of entering the Wizard’s guild, this is the final lesson that you must master, the summoning of the Legendary Gigamons.

To do this, you must find and collect their smaller counterparts, the Elemons. With these Elemons, this will enable you to summon the Legendary Gigamons!

In Play/ Is it exciting?

Each game lasts around the 10-to-15-minute mark which is great for young kids and keeping their attention on the game.

The youngest player goes first in Gigamons.

The aim is to find pairs of the Elemons, using a 3 x 3 square grid. The players take it in turns flipping over 2 facedown tiles. If they match, then you are the lucky winner of them. The tiles are then replaced from the tile pile.

If not, then the tiles are flipped back over facedown ready for the next player.

The game ends in one of 2 ways:

· If a player has caught 3 Gigamons

· If all of the Elemons tiles in the tile box run out

This is the simplified version, which is designed for all ages.

If you want to kick it up a gear and add some excitement to the game, then the following can be added into the game.

The Elemon’s each have unique powers:

· Polymon: This Elemon is a great one to pick up. This will match with any other Elemon.

· Aeromon: Swap a tile in front of you, with a tile of another player. Whoever gets the ability chooses which tile they want to swap.

· Floramon: The player takes a tile from the tile pile and adds it to their pile.

· Pyromon: You get to choose a tile in front of another player/ You then get to remove it.

· Hydromon: The other players close their eyes, you get to look at 4 of the tiles in the 3 x 3 play area. Once done, you turn them back over.

· Geomon: The player places a rock tile on one of the tiles in the 3 x 3 grid. No player can look at the tile with the rock on it until the original player has their next turn.

· Electromon: The player gains an extra turn.

Complexity Rating

With the game having 2 different modes, the simplified version is very simple which is brilliant for younger players.

The advanced version ups the difficulty, but it is still playable for the younger players.

Artwork

The artwork is amazing, it is really cute and done so well. Every Elemon and Gigamon are very clear and colourful. The pieces are well made and thick pieces of card.
