Offering fans a new twist on the classic board game, unlike traditional Monopoly games focused on accumulating wealth and properties, this edition introduces a brand new gameplay objective: catching Pokémon from different elemental types to secure victory. Players win by capturing one Pokémon of each type, such as Grass, Fire, Water, and Psychic, making it a race to “catch ’em all” rather than amassing property monopolies.
Players can navigate the game board using Pokémon-inspired tokens, including Paldea starters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, along with Pikachu. Instead of the familiar Chance and Community Chest cards, this edition uses Adventure and Challenge cards, introducing battle mechanics and interactions that reflect the original games. Additionally, players explore familiar Pokémon habitats and gym locations, capturing Pokémon like Geodude, Alakazam, Squirtle, and many others to complete their collection.
The Pokémon Monopoly game is set to release on December 20, 2024, just in time for holiday gifting.
