Parents may go berserk about shoes and toys left on the floor, the dining table covered in miniature paints and the state of your bedroom and Ewww what is that smell? You do know there are health reasons you don’t eat in your own room, and have you emptied your chamber pot (bucket). But there is one certainty, they may ground you and take you favourite toy away, but they aren’t going to throw swords at you. (Please contact your local law enforcement if that is the case. The throwing of swords not the odorous bedroom or full chamber pot).

Berserker Encounter, designed to fit into the Local Legends Tavern Kit and DND 5th Edition compatible. This unit contains a full encounter booklet, one large and three medium unpainted miniature and illustrated battle map. The unit is designed to be a flexible encounter and can be played as a standalone adventure, necessary element along the way, or a side quest in a campaign. The Games Master (GM) will need to have to assess the players levels and pitch the difficulty but reading the full encounter booklet rather than scanned over will give the depth of the scenario and characters to make it a truly Epic Encounter.

Epic Encounters Local Legends – Berserker Encounter at play:

Berserker Encounter. The game is designed as a drop in encounter for any games master role playing game, primarily for the Local legends Tavern Kit but also for a DND 5th Edition adventure, modification would be needed to any other role-playing system. The players play co-operatively unless you are a sneaky spy, to complete the scenario objective. The scenario is outlined to stop the Berserker from killing all in his path in or outside the Mace & Flail gladiator pit and bring back mercy for those that yield there and bring back the gladiator ethos and of course save the betting guild from going broke. But a band of plucky adventurers could save the day, or they might of course place bets on the Berserker and make a slow but almost certain fortune. The GM manages the encounter, so if it is too challenging the scenario can be adjusted e.g. the Berserker has to be stopped but knowing your stuff might tilt the balance and maybe some extra help to prop up your teams’ weak points may be advisable.

Booklets, Maps & Miniatures:

Berserker Encounter booklet contains, a detailed scenario and background of the Berserker and abilities and behaviour in battle or play, as well as the Berserker’s perspective on what it needs and what outcomes could be. The booklet provides guidance on difficulty, stats, and background from the Mace & Flail. The battle map is beautifully illustrated and on decent quality paper but is only one sided and you will need to flatten it out and then rely on the Tavern Kit to provide a leading foreground map for the adventure. The Berserker and three floating blades’ miniatures are included and are all unpainted and unprimed but are very nicely detailed. The pieces are standard medium & three small miniatures in size but is more generous & detailed compared to the Night Hag encounter and Owlbear encounter.

‘So are we going to fight that thing, I just got my KSCE, and we could let Snotglob help’ asked the young Paladin in a rather worried tone.

‘Not on our own, that thing is like a fortress on legs, and our dragon is way too young to beat that thing, and KSCE?’ Said the white Wizard looking quizzically.

‘Knight School Certificate of Education. I heard that you once summoned Tiamat the queen of the evil dragons for yours, what was it, ah yes, hole-levels and what did that stand for or was that the knowledge gap you had filled,’ said the young Paladin.

‘O-levels, well,’ chuckled the wizard ‘that is what was said and written down, but in my experience the o-levels stood for either. Oh my god they have summoned a demon, run for your lives, or. Oh, nothing happened, you can try again next year. But in my case, it started with an Oh, is that it, and in disgust I walked off. Unfortunately, the summoned hundreds of ting cute bright colourful frogs wanted to be kept as pets and then with the hallucinogenic mucus on the frogs and the Rise of Tiamat showing at the local amphitheatre, well two days later, I had passed with flying colours with summoning and banishing Tiamat and repairing all the damage. But that was just in their heads, but those frogs love those lotus flowers, and they are brightly coloured as a warning for us to stay away, and not to be used to brighten and adorn our living quarters.’ the white Wizard droned on in an all-knowing monotone.

‘What do we do now then’ asked the young Paladin.

‘We wait for an experienced battle hardened multidisciplined team we could assist, but for now let’s make some money, I wager that those five Dwarfs will be coming up short against that Berserker even if it’s terrible odds, a win is a win’. Said the white wizard looking disappointedly into his coin pouch.

Epic encounters have been written to be challenging and it is the duty of the GM to balance the adventure with the player ability and bringing in extra help to tip the balance is allowed as you are in charge right, but balancing is always the best way and letting in extra help or allow aid to come if needed for either your team or the Berserker.
