Don’t Get Got: Travel Edition tips and tricks

Having tried my hands at quite a few games of the Don’t Get Got Travel Edition, I feel that I now have a natural 6th sense for when someone is pulling the wool over my eyes. Some call it paranoia, but I call it mastery!

In this short guide, I’m going to give you my 5 best tips for getting the upper hand over your opponents and bluffing like a pro. So, let’s get started!

Patience is perfect

With every bluff game, such as Don’t get got, you’ll find that everyone will rush to try and catch people out quickly. Rule number one, take your time and be patient. Sit back and let the chaos die down. Take a good look at your cards and figure out ways of fitting them into your usual routines and mannerisms. As the journey goes on, you can strike when they’re unaware and get your advantage with skill.

Context is king

I touched on this in the previous tip, but it’s important that you don’t do anything out of the ordinary in order to try and get someone. Watch what people are doing and see if you can fit a quick win in by helping or playing along. The second you act suspicious, you’ll be the centre of attention, and everyone will be waiting to call you out.

Surprise and strike

One of the obvious times to strike would be during the lulls throughout the day; sitting around waiting, standing in line. Instead, wait for the busiest moments to make your move. Help someone onto the train and call them on holding your hand, sneak in a high five when you make it somewhere early and gain a point. Utilise chaos and catch them by surprise!

Tailor your approach

Everyone acts differently in various situations, so it’s important to tailor your approach to missions in a way that suits your target. If they love food, catch them out during a meal. If they’re a board game fan then gain a point when they win. It could even be as simple as fitting a missing in around the way your partner does something. The more natural your attempt, the more likely they are to be caught out.

Call my bluff

If you’re a fan of playing the long game, then the double bluff may be your best friend. Why not make up a mission to try and catch someone out. Peak their suspicions with someone unrelated, and then later in the day, you’ll be able to make your move and complete your actual mission without them suspecting a thing. Simply put, make them second guess their instincts, and they’ll be a sitting duck just waiting to get got!
