Is it SNAP?….Is it Pairs?….Uno?…..or is it sandwiches? Well, the answer is kind of between them all.

Aim of the Game

Be the last one standing in Sandwich Masters, a battle royale of sandwich makers! Make sandwiches from the menu using various ingredients, including rotten ones or things that you just wouldn’t want to find in your sarnie …such as nuclear power rods! Two rules 1) your sandwich must have a top and bottom slice of bread to score 2) Call the health inspector when you have stitched your opponents. Dependent on how much the health inspector loves their job depends on the punishment – Is it a fine, a remove all ingredients you hold or shut it down!

Playability

Well, it is very playable. It’s silly and quick and most rounds last around 15-20 minutes. The pictures are clear with easy-to-read instructions and the Health Inspectors are very amusing….the first time you read them and that is the main issue I have with this game.

Sandwich Masters becomes, well, kind of like most other card games out there. Its easy to understand, no surprises and no increasing the difficulty level. I honestly think that if it wasn’t for the different ‘nasty’ ingredients this would get pretty dull pretty quick.

That doesn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the game, but as it’s a quick round and simple illustrated cards its more a game to do in between a game session. Or before the kids go to bed. Not too taxing but also not too involved.

I did wonder if maybe I am not the target market, as my son really enjoyed it. But he also likes Exploding Kittens and reaches for that a lot more so I don’t think it’s the case.

Overall

I do like Sandwich Masters more than I am probably getting across. It’s quick, silly and fun and one that families can roll out for a quick round in between other activities and that is the crux of the issue. It’s the meat in the sandwich of a game session, the bread on top of a long day, the snack before the film…and other sandwich related statements. But it is not one I would necessarily go to when I fancy a quick game. It’s more a ‘do you want to play Sandwich makers?’ ‘…yeah go on then’
