Love letter is a great game for all occasions – no wonder it has got so many awards on the Zatu website! It is an easy game to learn and is so portable, which makes it a great travel or pub game. Love letter can also hold its own in a games night with its high player interaction and deduction.

In Love letter, you and your fellow player(s) are potential suitors for the princess’ hand in marriage. To woo the princess, you have to entrust your love letters to her family members or attendants (so old school) – the more of your letters she gets, the more favor she bestows upon you. But be warned, getting the princess’ attention is a competitive game and your fellow suitors will do anything in their power to make sure that your letter does not reach the princess.
First class delivery
One of the awesome things about Love letter, is the price… It is cheap for the amount of fun and replayability that is found within. The components are fairly simple but are quality enough for what they need to do. My favourite component is the velvety bag which looks regal and is so cute to bring out. The artwork on the cards is nice and they are stiff enough that they don’t bend or crease too easily. I would say, try to avoid bending the cards too much when shuffling because any visible defects on the back of the cards will give your competition more info which slightly ruins the game.
Trust no one
I won’t go into too much detail about the set-up and how to play because the video above does a great job of that. I will give some tips though… Make sure you always know what cards have been played! Everyone is trying to get inside each other’s heads… So, bluffing or even double bluffing is a great strategy. Observe your opponents carefully… There is a lot of information to be gained by watching your opponents.
