“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!

Lewis Carroll – The Jabberwocky
The delightfully creepy creature was something that took me some time to paint. I went in with a vague idea of my approach and I found it pays to go in with a plan. The Jabberwock is a huge-sized creature, known to shoot lasers from its eyes. It is also vulnerable to the Vorpal sword. The Jabberwock is an evil dragon that is usually found in burbling its way through forests. When spotted by Fey creatures they tend to run away.
Design
As with all Nolzur’s miniatures, it came primed and ready to paint. I love the design of the Jabberwock; from the expansive wings, and its bulging eyes to the wiggly tail. It has long grasping clawed fingers and it’s in a pose where it is reaching out with one claw as if to catch its prey. The scales were easy to paint and no details were lost even with 2 or 3 layers of paint. The wings are removable which makes painting it much easier. I was able to paint them separately and not have them in the way when I was painting the main body. My favourite part is the jaws with their strange rodent-like teeth. There are some visible seams around the shoulders and back legs, but with careful painting, they vanish fairly well.

Overall Thoughts
Nolzur’s Marvelous Miniatures Jabberwock is a detailed miniature. It had defined scales with a dynamic pose and a very grumpy face. This impressive and intimidating miniature fits very well in any Dungeon Masters collection. For players going up against this vile dragon, you best have your Vorpal Blade at the ready.
