The Build
This set is rated 4+ and that is definitely in the right place, not least because this is the target age group that Bluey is aimed at. Any higher is starting to not make sense.
This set is broken into 2 main parts. You have the family car to begin with and then the beach setting with a lot of beach accessories. Oh, and not forgetting 3 excellent and highly detailed minis of Bluey, Bingo and Mum.
The Car is the most challenging part of this set with the biggest section of the instructions. It is a good challenge for your children though as it has some larger moulded sections alongside your typical Lego components creating a fine model at the end.
The beach is very straight forward to set up afterwards creating a lovely play setting for the family to enjoy. It is not a complicated build at all and can be easily rearranged to make your own set up at the beach.
The Play and adventure
The Car is without doubt the showstopping piece here as it is an excellent replica of the families vehicle in the cartoon and is really central to a lot of their adventures away from the family home. It’s only right that it gets a part in the Bluey Lego series.
It’s awesome watching my children use the Car to take Bluey and the family off on their own adventures, whether it is to the beach here, or the Park or the pool as shown in other episodes or off on an adventure of their own imaginations making. The family are bundled up into the car (feels familiar to me on a regular basis) and set off on their way.
The Lego minis themselves are stunning as hinted on above. I’m in awe of just about all the minis Lego create from lovable characters and they deliver again here with Bluey. My one critique here is why haven’t they included Dad within the set? I do not understand this as if I was taking the family to the beach, everyone would be going and no one left behind.
The beach is fully kitted out for a great play time. Everything is there from a little Lego spade, Lego surf boards, a crab, a Lego picnic basket and more. The family are sorted for a beautiful day out by the sea. We’ve also had other Lego friends come and join the family on their beach day which have included Ironman and the Stormtroopers joining at the Beach. It’s a lot of fun.
Final Thoughts
We love Lego in our home as well as being huge fans of Bluey. Picking up This set is an easy win for me as a parent and letting the kids feel challenged in building the set followed by their imaginations running wild in play.
