Fans of Terminator 2: Judgment Day have another reason to prepare for the future, as Terminator 2: The Board Game is getting ready to launch on Kickstarter! Cation Arts and STUDIOCANAL are bringing the classic 1991 action film to the tabletop in a cooperative survival game for 1 to 3 players, with an optional one-versus-many mode allowing up to four players. A Kickstarter preview page is now live, although an official campaign launch date has yet to be announced. Players will step into the roles of John Connor, Sarah Connor, and the T-800 as they attempt to stop Skynet and prevent Judgment Day. Standing in their way is the T-1000, and it sounds like this isn't going to be a particularly friendly fellow!
Keep the noise down!
One of the game's biggest features is its Noise system. Players will need to complete objectives and make important decisions, but their actions can also attract the attention of the T-1000. That creates a constant balancing act. Push forward too slowly, and the clock keeps ticking. Make too much noise and the liquid-metal nightmare gets closer! The game uses tactical, dice-driven gameplay, with players working together across missions inspired by the world of Terminator 2. The T-1000 can be controlled by the game's rules in cooperative play, while a fourth player can take control of the villain in the one-versus-many mode.
A familiar name
Cation Arts isn't completely new to the crowdfunding scene. The studio is behind All Time Wrestling, a card-and-dice game that has expanded into several editions and additional campaigns. The publisher currently lists All Time Wrestling, Conqueror: Final Conquest, and other tabletop titles among its games, giving it some experience with crowdfunding and licensed properties. The studio is also offering an incentive for early supporters of Terminator 2: The Board Game. Fans who join the game's mailing list and later back the Kickstarter will be eligible for an exclusive T-800 miniature.
