If there is one thing Funko Games champion, it’s an expandable games system. Just look at the phenomenal success of Funkoverse, an extremely popular series which covers everything from DC Comics to Universal Monsters. Now, Funko Games have announced a brand new series, ‘Star Wars Rivals’.
This is an all-new expandable card game covering every era of the Star Wars galaxy and aside from the Premier Set we can expect many Character Booster Packs in the near future. It certainly looks like the Prequel/Clone Wars era will be getting it’s fair share of the limelight; General Kenobi, Ahsoka and Asajj Ventress have already been unveiled alongside Original Trilogy era Luke, Vader and Boba Fett. The galaxy far, far away is a big one and it certainly provides a lot of potential. Will we be able to pit C-3PO against Count Dooku? Time will tell.
We’re excited to see how the game plays and who Funko Games will bring to the table in future Character Packs as and when we are provided with more information. Using action cards, tokens and die, the Light Side rises to meet the Dark Side in this exciting new product!
When does it come out you ask? The press release states that the game will be available everywhere later this year. But wait! Are you going to Star Wars Celebration in London this weekend? Because Funko Games have revealed that a LIMITED pre-release sale for all Star Wars Rivals products will take place at the event from 7th-10th April.
If only I had bought my tickets in time!
