Board Game Club rolls back into Camden!

Board Game Club has kicked off its 2026 season with a new Camden home, bringing a selection of award-nominated games to the table. The monthly games night returned on Tuesday 29 September at The Lyttelton Arms on Camden High Street, marking the first Board Game Club event of the year and the beginning of a new chapter for the club. The event brought together regulars and newcomers for an evening of tabletop games, drinks and plenty of competition. And considering it was a particularly warm night in London, getting people around the tables was no small achievement!

A new home!

The Lyttelton Arms is now the home of Board Game Club, which is designed as a relaxed, social games night for adults. Rather than asking everyone to turn up with a game from their own collection, Board Game Club puts together a curated menu for each event. The selection can include party games, trivia titles, quick ice-breakers, and more unusual games for anyone looking to discover something new. The club is aimed at both experienced players and people who might not know their meeples from their meeple-adjacent cardboard objects. No previous experience is required, and attendees can come with friends or turn up solo. The September event ran from 6 pm to 10 pm and was free to attend, although tickets were required. Board Game Club's move to Camden was announced earlier in September, with the new venue set to host the club's regular monthly events going forward.

Celebrating the Play Creators Awards!

The first event of the new season had a little extra going on. Board Game Club teamed up with Mojo Nation for a special evening celebrating the winners and finalists of the 2026 Play Creators Awards. The awards took place in June at Under The Bridge, Stamford Bridge, recognising designers, inventors, studios and teams across the toy and games industry.  That meant the games available on the night were selected from titles connected to this year's awards, giving guests the chance to try games created by some of the industry's recognised designers. The 2026 awards featured a huge range of categories, including Game Designer of the Year awards covering kids, party, family and licensed games, as well as Rising Star, Debut of the Year, Play Innovator of the Year and Unsung Hero.  For a games night, it makes for a pretty solid way to discover something you might have otherwise missed.

Plenty of players!

The event attracted a mixture of familiar faces and first-time visitors, with guests getting stuck into the selection throughout the evening. Lesley Singleton, Founder of Playtime PR and Co-Founder of Board Game Club, said the event was a strong start to the new season, particularly given the humid conditions. She also praised Mojo Nation for supporting the event and helping bring the Play Creators Awards titles to a wider audience. Billy Langsworthy, Co-Founder of Mojo Nation, said the evening provided a chance to build on the success of the awards by putting the winning and shortlisted games directly in front of people who wanted to play them. And honestly, that is probably one of the best ways to celebrate a board game. Give people a table, hand them the game, and let them argue over the rules.

Back in November!

The Camden game nights aren't stopping after one event. Board Game Club will return to The Lyttelton Arms on Tuesday 3 November, with the next event already listed as part of the club's upcoming schedule. A festive special is also planned for Tuesday 1 December.  The November event is set to continue Board Game Club's monthly format, with more details about the games and theme expected to be revealed closer to the date. For anyone in London looking for an excuse to get away from the sofa and actually play the games sitting on their shelf, Board Game Club is keeping the tables busy. And with a new Camden venue now established, the 2026 season looks set to have plenty more cardboard, dice and questionable decisions still to come.
