John Company and Molly House Reprints

Get ready to return to the 18th century world of history and strategy, with new Kickstarter campaigns for Molly House and John Company reprints!

The campaign launched October 2025, marking the return of Cole Wehrle, the award-winning creator of Root, Pax Pamir, and Arcs, to Kickstarter. The campaign will run for 25 days, offering printing updates and limited-run components, as well as a small errata-update pack for owners of the first printing of John Company, correcting some errors. Both games are being brought back under the same campaign so new backers are able to pick up one or both copies!

John Company – How to Play

John Company is a historical strategy game about navigating the British East India Company during the 18th and 19th centuries. Players work as aristocratic British families trying to use the company’s wealth and influence to improve their status in society. This is the main goal of the game, to advance in society through increasing your wealth and reputation – victory is only achieved when the player with the most victory points retires, sits back, and looks at the success they’ve created for themselves!

This game is highly interactive, meaning that every decision players make can be impacted by talking to each other, influencing one another with opinions. Players must work to keep the Company alive whilst also using it for their own personal gain, modelling the real corruption and politics of the empire!

Molly House – How to Play

Set in the same century, Molly House sees players adopt the characters of mollies, queer individuals in London who frequently visit a “molly house” – a secret meeting place for members of the queer community. Players must navigate love, sexuality, scandal and the looming presence of betrayal…

Working together, you must keep the molly house alive and safe, whilst also pursuing your own desires in society. However, betrayal is always possible, meaning some players could turn on the group to save themselves. Use cards to express your characters desires and emotions, but bluffing and emotional storytelling are at the centre of this game!
