Hasbro Entertainment is entering a new chapter as long-time kids’ and animation executive Olivier Dumont has announced his departure from the company. Dumont, who has held the role of President since 2023, revealed in a heartfelt LinkedIn post that he is stepping down to explore “new opportunities to build, lead and create.”
From eOne to Hasbro
Dumont’s career at Hasbro Entertainment began following the toy giant’s $4 billion acquisition of Entertainment One (eOne) in 2019. As President of Family Brands at eOne for more than 13 years, Dumont played a key role in steering household favourites like Peppa Pig and PJ Masks into billion-dollar franchises.
When Hasbro later sold eOne to Lionsgate in 2023 for $500 million, Dumont transitioned into his Hasbro Entertainment role, continuing his mission to expand the reach of Hasbro’s beloved properties.
A Legacy of Play
Throughout his tenure, Dumont oversaw some of the most iconic brands in family entertainment, including Transformers, My Little Pony, and G.I. Joe – alongside Hasbro’s evergreen board games like Monopoly and Scrabble, which themselves continue to inspire adaptations for the screen.
Reflecting on his journey, Dumont wrote:
“What makes me proudest isn’t just the shows or films we delivered, but the everlasting memories we created for children and families all over the world. From Peppa Pig to PJ Masks, Transformers to My Little Pony, I had the joy of working with visionary creators, partners, and colleagues to bring these beloved brands to life in new and meaningful ways.”
He also highlighted the growth of eOne during his leadership, which expanded from a team of 20 to more than 200, and helped create two $1B+ global brands.
An Industry Veteran
Dumont’s departure caps over 30 years in the children’s entertainment industry, where he has held senior positions across Europe, including:
- CEO of Frog Box, the Paris-based animation studio behind PJ Masks.
- Managing Director of TV Loonland and SIP Animation.
- Head of Acquisitions & Co-Productions at Canal J.
- Head of Business Affairs & Co-Productions at Europe Images International/Lagardère.
What’s Next?
While Dumont has not yet announced his next role, he made it clear that he intends to keep building and innovating in the world of entertainment.
“As for what’s next, I’m excited to explore new opportunities to build, lead, and create. For now, I’m celebrating the ride, the people, and the memories we built together. Thank you, Entertainment One and Hasbro, for the adventure of a lifetime.”
