Who Did This Poo? review

Who Did This Poo? Is an intriguing game for little ones with inquisitive minds and not, apparently, an editorial comment on my last ZATU blog !

Poop Deck

The small and sturdy box contains 54 colourful cards cheerfully illustrated by artist Claudia Bolgt. These chunky 6cm x 6cm cards depict 27 well-known creatures and what they leave behind. They are split, in pairs, across 6 different colours all having the same backs of a swarm of cartoon flies. The cards have rounded edges and are a nice size for little hands to handle. Also robust enough to stand a fair bit of rough treatment.

Then there is the 16-page booklet revealing all you ever wanted to know about Poo and Pooers. The pictures and backgrounds match the cards themselves.

Winning the Poo

This is “A Matching & Memory Game” according to the box lid, so how do you play? The stated age on the box is 3+ (not 12+ as tagged on the database!) and as my Granddaughter Maya proudly reminded me, she is now 4, so she was enlisted to playtest it with me.

The rules (printed inside the box lid) state: Shuffle the cards and lay them face up and take turns to match an animal to its poo. This seemed too simple to me but then I can read what’s printed on the cards! However, even Maya said, “That’s not how you play, Granddad” and turned all the cards face down. This is described on the box as “fiendishly difficult”. Hmm.

We then proceeded to play with a Maya house rule: you turn 2 cards as normal, if they are a match you take them. If they do not match the creature is turned back down and the poo is left for all to see. This worked very well. It certainly did for Maya as she quickly sped to victory over her Mother, Auntie and myself!

Scat’s all Folks

Look, you probably already know whether your family is going to enjoy a nicely presented box of fun facts about poo or not and my words here will not sway you from your position so I’m not going to waffle on for another 500 words.

What I will say is Who Did This Poo? Is well made, engagingly illustrated, compact and colourful and sensibly priced.
