So Clover! Second Opinion

If you’ve ever played Just One or Codenames and thought, “What if we took this wordplay energy and made it even more cooperative and head-scratching?” – then let me introduce you to So Clover!, a clever little gem from Repos Production that’s become a surprise hit in my game night rotation.

Clover Chaos: What’s the deal with So Clover!?

So Clover! is a cooperative word association game where players attempt to carefully craft a one word clue which relates to two words. But this is a lucky four leaf clover so, you will have to create four carefully crafted clues linking 4 pairs of words. Sounds easy, right? The twist… You are given 4 squared doughnut shaped cards and they are randomly placed on your clover board. Now you will see the madness. There will be 4 pairs of random words that you have craft cues for.

Once everyone has written their four clues around the clover board, you are ready to start guessing the orientation of your teammate’s cards. But wait! As if your cues weren’t going to make it hard enough, an extra fifth card is mixed in with the four cards you used to craft your clues. Now others attempt to reconstruct the original layout, using logic, intuition, and occasionally desperate guesswork. For max points, the original layout must be reconstructed on the first attempt. This is a rare and skillful (or lucky) event, but fear not. If the first attempt is incorrect, the clover owner removes any incorrect tiles and then the team can guess again.

Remember, this is a co-operative game and you are competing for the high score on the “Record of Legends”. It is so satisfying when you beat a previous game’s score, even just by one!

Four Reason Why It’s So Clover!

1. Instantly Accessible – The rules are wonderfully simple, yet the game feels mentally stimulating without becoming exhausting. It’s a perfect game for newcomers or non-gamers, while still offering enough challenge for seasoned players.

2. Fun with Friends (and Family) – The cooperative nature means nobody’s left out or feeling dumb. Instead, it fosters a great “Aha!” vibe when the group correctly deciphers a tough clue-or groans in unison when the answer was obviously “bat-cave” and not “bat-ball.”

3. Quick and Snappy – Games usually take around 20-30 minutes, making it ideal as a warm-up or cool-down on a game night. You can even squeeze in a few rounds back-to-back without it ever feeling repetitive.

4. Creative Wordplay – The most fun part is crafting your clues. You’ll find yourself stretching your brain to connect “pyramid” and “opera” with a single word, and the weird connections you discover along the way are half the fun.

Components & Vibe Check

The dry-erase clover boards are a nice touch (and yes, they’re shaped like actual clovers), and the cards themselves are well-made and durable. There’s a lovely green aesthetic that fits the theme without being too flashy. It’s not a game that’s going to blow you away visually, but it’s clean, functional, and kind to your bag of gold.

Final Thoughts

So Clover! is like that dependable friend who’s always down for a good time and never overstays their welcome. It’s breezy, creative, and just clever enough to make everyone at the table feel smart. Whether you’re looking for a palate cleanser between heavier games or a delightful main course on its own, this one is a must-have for any word game lover’s shelf.
