Shoot For The Stars Review

What do you get when you mix trivia, space, and a group game of chicken? Shoot for the Stars, of course! In this release from Big Potato Games, up to eight players try to rake in the most points in a numerical guessing game.

Reach for the Stars

Gameplay in Shoot for the Stars is incredibly simple, and so this game is an excellent choice for family game nights or a more light-hearted trivia night. Each round, players will read a question aloud and make their guesses. All the questions have a numerical answer and are so whacky no one should know the real answer. Once they’ve made their guess, they place their astronaut player piece in the captain’s seat of the ship. Then, going clockwise, players make their own guesses.

If someone guesses higher than the captain, they take the captain’s seat, booting the other player back to the cheap seats. Players can also choose to just go along for the ride, not guessing higher than the captain but joining the party. Finally, a player can choose to either not join or abandon ship if they think the captain’s guess is too high. This can be a real lifesaver when it comes to scoring, as if the captain’s guess has gone over the true answer, then everyone on board gets nothing. Zilch. Nada. Striking that balance brings a sense of drama to Shoot for the Stars, the risk of tipping over that edge and risking the points for everyone on board.

She’s So Lucky, She’s A Star

Something that definitely needs to be praised for Shoot for the Stars is the production quality. For a simple push-your-luck trivia game, the components are superb. The artwork featuring throughout the game, but especially on the player chits and pieces, is fantastic. Plus, the 3D ship really helps this game pop off the table, quite literally. Overall, Big Potato Games have made another (inter)stellar party game that’s both family-friendly and fully engaging for everyone.
