Fans of Wyrmspan rejoice! The new expansion for every budding Dracologist’s favourite board game has just been fully revealed! Wyrmspan: Dragon Academy is the first expansion in franchise, and fans have finally got a chance to see images of the box and components, as well an opportunity to skim the rulebook online, thanks to Stonemaier’s latest announcement!
Wyrmspan: Dragon Academy not only adds new dragon and cave cards to the base game, but boasts a new round tracker board, which allows players to make new decisions when passing the round. If you choose to enrol, you can expect to find:
- 80 new dragon cards
- 25 new cave cards
- 5 Dragon Guild tiles
- 7 objective tiles
- 45 training tokens
- 1 new round tracker board
- 1 card tray
- 1 rulebook
- 5 updated dragon cards
- 2 updated cave cards
What’s more impressive, is that all of the new expansion components will fit in the core game box!
With this exciting announcement, we have been able to see a new mechanism in this game – Training. Training dragons allows players to unlock abilities, which could be what it takes to claim victory over the other players at your table.
Those who have played Wyrmspan will know that all it takes is the correct combination of dragons and caves to stomp ahead, making some wins inevitable for the player who is well and truly in the lead. Wyrmspan: Dragon Academy‘s new training round tracker helps with this imbalance, by offering players a new income choice when they pass the round, giving them a much needed boost and speeding up the game overall.
