A new Kickstarter campaign has made a loud entrance, and it is already well past its funding target after an explosive first 24 hours.
The project, Lethal Wedding, is a 16-bit style co-op run-and-gun inspired by 80s action movies and classic arcade shooters like Zombies Ate My Neighbors. It reached its initial funding goal in just 90 minutes, and has already climbed beyond 200% funded shortly after launch.
A fast start for a retro action throwback
Developed by Mega Cat Studios, Lethal Wedding blends over-the-top arcade combat with a tongue-in-cheek story about wedding chaos gone violently off the rails.
Players take control of a bride and her mother-in-law after a criminal clown syndicate crashes a bachelor party and kidnaps the groom. What follows is a rescue mission across more than 30 levels filled with circus-themed enemies, mobsters, and increasingly absurd hazards.
The game supports two-player couch co-op throughout, leaning heavily into shared chaos and fast-paced shooting action.
16-bit action with modern twists
The game is built in a retro 16-bit style, echoing the look and feel of classic console shooters. But beneath the pixel aesthetic, it introduces systems designed to shake up standard run-and-gun gameplay.
One of the key features is the “Vow System”, which adds optional challenges during stages. Players may be asked to complete randomized objectives while surviving each level, increasing both difficulty and reward potential.
Weapons, upgrades, and circus chaos
Combat in Lethal Wedding is intentionally over the top. Players can use a wide range of unusual weapons, including explosive rose launchers, banana SMGs, and other unconventional tools of destruction.
Across its campaign, the game features more than 30 levels set in locations ranging from circus strongholds to criminal hideouts and unexpected wedding-related venues.
Progression includes character upgrades and customisation options, with over 25 enhancements available throughout the game.
Kickstarter rewards and physical editions
The Kickstarter campaign includes a wide range of reward tiers for backers, spanning both digital and physical items.
Higher tiers include limited edition Genesis and Mega Drive cartridges, boxed editions, and collectible items such as a shadow box display, vinyl soundtrack, enamel pins, and themed merchandise. Backers can also have their names included in the game credits.
The campaign structure reflects a strong emphasis on collector appeal, particularly for fans of retro gaming hardware and physical game memorabilia.

Following its reveal at the Shacknews E4 Indie Showcase, Lethal Wedding has seen rapid early backing, with its funding goal achieved within 90 minutes of launch and momentum continuing past the 200% mark within the first day.
