These Miniature art books keep selling out for a reason

Three art book covers titled "The Art Of..." feature vibrant fantasy and sci-fi characters. Artists: Alfonso Giraldes, Steve Garcia, and Anastasia Loukrezis.

A Kickstarter Favourite Returns

Some miniature painting books teach techniques. Others simply exist to make hobbyists stare at pages in disbelief wondering how somebody managed to paint something that well.

The long-running The Art of… series comfortably falls into the second category, and it’s now back on Kickstarter with three brand new volumes, packed full of showcase-quality miniatures.

Over the years, the series has become one of the most respected collections in the hobby space, highlighting the work of some of the biggest names in miniature painting through oversized photography, artist commentary and galleries.

Now, three more artists are joining the line-up.

Three New Artists Join The Series

The latest Kickstarter campaign introduces new volumes focused on Alfonso Giraldes, better known in hobby circles as Banshee, alongside Tim Marsh and Anastasia Loukrezi.

Each book acts as a dedicated showcase for its featured artist, filled with high-quality miniature photography and personal insights into their creative process. But despite featuring some of the world’s best painters, these books aren’t positioned as step-by-step tutorials...

These books are built around display-level painting and artistic experimentation, showcasing the kind of projects most hobbyists would happily spend hours zooming into on Instagram or Pinterest.

A Trusted Kickstarter Name

Part of the project’s popularity also comes down to the reputation of publisher Dave Taylor.

Long-time hobby fans may recognise him as the former editor-in-chief of White Dwarf and Wargames Illustrated, but in recent years he’s become increasingly well known for producing premium miniature art books through Kickstarter.

And unlike many crowdfunding campaigns that struggle with delays or fulfilment issues, The Art of series has developed a reputation for reliably delivering exactly what backers expect.

The Kickstarter Is Live Now

The Art of… Volumes 16-18 is currently live on Kickstarter until June 5.

And judging by the reputation the series has built over the last few years, these latest volumes will probably end up on a lot more hobby shelves very soon.
