The Dawn of Pangaea brings a new world to the tabletop

A lush new board game has emerged from the ancient mists of creation – The Dawn of Pangaea, a thematic strategy game for 1–4 players that invites you to shape a living world under the watchful eye of Gaia herself. Currently live on Kickstarter, this project comes from the team at Treeceratops, in collaboration with designer Tommy, creator of Forests of Pangaia.

Spirits of the First Forests

In The Dawn of Pangaea, players take on the roles of ancient forest spirits, sent by the goddess Gaia to bring life to the barren lands of early Earth. Each spirit moves across the continent, planting seeds, performing rituals, and awakening elemental creatures to nurture the newborn world.

Gameplay revolves around two core ritual types – Creature Rituals and Land Rituals. The former summon majestic beings to roam your forests, while the latter connect biomes across the continent in long, continuous paths to earn points. With every action, players climb the Sacred Mountain, hoping to gain Gaia’s ultimate blessing.

You’ll also encounter three powerful Ancient Guardians – Okuma the bear, Thorondal the eagle, and Chelon the turtle – each offering unique abilities that can shift the balance of the game.

It’s a serene yet strategic experience, mixing resource management, area building, and magical storytelling into a beautifully illustrated package.

From Rivalry to Harmony

While The Dawn of Pangaea is designed for competitive play, it also includes a solo and cooperative mode. In these versions, players work together to heal the Ancients, preventing the rise of a dark force known as the Shadow. Every ritual brings the world closer to restoration – or destruction – making each turn feel meaningful.

Expanding the Wild Woods

Launching alongside the main game is The Wild Woods Expansion, which literally adds a new dimension – height. The expansion introduces 24 wooden treetops, new player boards, and mechanics that let you build taller forests. Higher trees increase your range, allowing you to spread seeds across greater distances and unlock more strategic options.

It’s a natural evolution of the base game, deepening the puzzle without overwhelming it. As with the main title, the expansion’s wooden components and minimalist iconography make it as tactile as it is beautiful.

Nature, Craft, and Community

Treeceratops’ attention to detail extends beyond the design. The game is language-neutral, fully translated into English, German, and French, and crafted with sustainability in mind. Backers can even test it early via Tabletop Simulator, and full playthroughs are already available online.

Expected to ship in May 2026, The Dawn of Pangaea is shaping up to be a standout release for nature lovers and strategy gamers alike. With its blend of enchanting visuals, accessible rules, and layered gameplay, it captures that rare feeling of growth and wonder that defines the very best in tabletop design.

If you’re ready to plant your roots in something new, this one might just be worth keeping an eye on.
