It’s time to put on your sun hat, whip out your suitcase and dust off your atlas, as you will be going on a globetrotting adventure this year, with a fantastic looking new board game arriving in October, The Amazing Journey.
With some incredible design and artwork and an extremely fun premise, Horrible Guild will be bringing to life stories like Around the World in 80 Days with this exciting new game that’s headed to a board game table near you in 2026.
And while summer might be over for many, with an October release date The Amazing Journey promises to keep those holiday vibes stretching into the Autumn, but rather than a lazy trip down the beach, it looks like you’ll be busy experiencing everything the world has to offer.
It’s about the journey, AND the destination
The Amazing Journey will be a game for 2-4 players, or travellers, who will go on their very own globetrotting adventure.
Using the available transport vehicles, you will be planning each turn to keep your journey moving along without losing too much time.
And of course like any great journey, it’s not all about your final destination but the experiences you have along the way, ensuring you have a story to tell when you go back home, while you meet with your fellow travellers at checkpoints throughout the game.
But in The Amazing Journey there has to be a winner, it’s a board game after all, so where you end up and when is just as important as the memories you make.
A really striking and cool looking game, while information about it is fairly light at the moment, it looks like a super fun new game with lovely box art but a kind of retro feel to the board game itself.
Horrible Guild’s Strong 2026
The Amazing Journey looks to be another great addition to publisher Horrible Guild’s line up of some fantastic board games.
Known for some great lightweight games such as Rocking Raft and Spotlight, The Amazing Journey will be a mediumweight game with the current tabletop requirement of anthropomorphic animals to draw in less experienced players, like a Critter Kitchen or Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest.
But The Amazing Journey also follows on from Horrible Guild's other massive 2026 release Queens Dilemma, which shows the variety of the games this publisher produces. While this one might be a little lighter on the dark and often twisted decisions that comes from that game, The Amazing Journey I am confident will feature more seamless game design from the publisher, with the early impressions I can see on Board Game Geek really drawing my eye.
And while yes I am slowly becoming one of those tabletop enthusiasts whose a bit cynical when they see another board game plastered seemingly at random with dressed up chickens and foxes, I do understand why its done, and there is something particularly striking about this game.
