Pokémon Trading Card Game Reveals A ‘Mega’ Surprise!

RIt’s an exciting time for Pokémon Trainers worldwide, as two trademarks have just been registered for the Pokémon Trading Card Game in Japan. Which means that players are excitedly speculating as to what this means for future sets.

Mega Brave (メガブレイブ) and Mega Symphonia (メガシンフォニア) are the name of the two new trademarks filed by the Pokémon Company, and they follow the same suit as previous set names. But what does this tell us about the potential new sets?

The last time we saw Mega Pokemon in the video games was on our first visit to the Kalos Region. Which is coincidentally where the latest upcoming video game, Pokemon ZA, is taking us. Put two and two together, and it’s only natural that these specialist Pokémon make an appearance in the card game. But what exactly are Mega Pokémon cards?

First seen in the X & Y sets, Mega Pokémon are the next exciting stage in evolutions and offer powerful abilities beyond your wildest dreams. Each Mega Pokémon has significantly more health than other evolutions, along with a single overpowered ability that gives the player a huge advantage. But this power comes at a cost, as Mega Pokémon are accompanied by an additional rule that gives the opponent 3 prize cards when the Mega evolution is knocked out.

Whether the new versions of the Mega Pokémon will follow suit is yet to be known. But it’s sure to be only a matter of time before we hear more about these exciting new trading card sets, and find out which Pokémon will be receiving the Mega treatment.
