Since its global launch back in October 2024, Pokémon Pocket has become a daily ritual for millions of Trainers – and now, it’s celebrating a massive milestone: over 150 million downloads across iOS and Android. Not bad for a game about virtual trading cards, huh?
To mark its first anniversary, The Pokémon Company has lined up a series of fresh updates, events, and – most excitingly – the debut of Mega Evolution in the app. That’s right: the next time you open a booster, don’t be surprised if a Mega Gyarados or Mega Blaziken bursts out to steal the spotlight.
Mega Rising Expansion: Go Big or Go Mega
Launching on October 30, 2025, the brand-new Mega Rising expansion is all about bringing Mega-Evolved Pokémon into the TCG Pocket world. Expect dazzling artwork, powerful Pokémon ex, and a new layer of strategy as Mega forms make their mobile debut.
The expansion will include three themed booster packs:
- Mega Rising: Mega Gyarados
- Mega Rising: Mega Blaziken
- Mega Rising: Mega Altaria
Whether you’re a long-time collector or a curious newcomer, these packs promise a mix of nostalgia and fresh excitement. And if you’re itching to see the new cards in action, you can catch the Mega Rising trailer on the official Pokémon YouTube channel.
Sharing (and Trading) Just Got Better
One of the biggest quality-of-life updates coming alongside the expansion is the brand-new Share Feature. Starting October 30, Trainers can gift one high-rarity card per day to each friend – including cards from Mega Rising. You can also receive one card daily, making it easier than ever to help your friends build dream decks (or, let’s be honest, show off a little).
Anniversary Events: Free Packs and Special Missions
What’s a birthday without presents? Starting October 29 at 11 p.m. PDT, all players can log in to claim a free booster pack from each of the new Mega Rising sets – Gyarados, Blaziken, and Altaria – as part of the First Anniversary Celebration Campaign.
From October 29 to December 16, special missions will also go live, giving Trainers the chance to earn exclusive anniversary emblems and bonus rewards. Plus, if you missed out on older promos, the PROMO Reissue Drop and Wonder Pick Events are bringing back classic A Series packs and cards for a limited time.
