After a multitude of teasers and hints, Games Workshop and Warhammer 40k have finally treated us to a full reveal for the first kill team expansion for the current season, Gallowfall. This brand new box set promises miniatures, terrain, rules and scenarios. So join us as we unpack the exciting contents of this new kill team treasure trove.
The first thing that catches our eyes are the new terrain pieces that make up the inner body of the Gallowdark. Two sprues packed with new terrain features including walls, columns, cryo chambers, worktables, operating tables and capsules. Each with beautifully sculpted details that are just waiting to be picked out with a detail brush and brought to life.
But these escape pod terrain pieces aren’t just there to look pretty. They also come with some exciting objective actions that can be triggered by spending an action point. By doing so, you can choose to either enter, exit, search or launch an escape pod. If you choose to escape the ever crumbling escape pod, both the capsule and the miniature inside are removed from the field and are considered to have escaped.
These actions accompany nine perilous new missions for players to experience and perhaps fall victim to. All of which include various ways of integrating the new terrain pieces to make the environment feel as interactive as possible.
However, that’s only scratching the surface of what you can expect to find in the new Gallowfall box set. The real excitement comes when we look at the two new kill teams that are included in the box. The first of which is a unit of ten League of Voltann models, equipped with various weapons. Tools and healing kits. Everything you might need to fight off whatever horrors lurk on the space hulk.
Secondly, we have a primitive looking unit of ten Beastmen that look to be primed and ready for battle. Much like the Voltanns, these models also come equipped with everything needed for survival, and more.
And to round it off, we have a 120 page book that contains all the rules needed to play these factions and hopefully survive. Not forgetting the missions and unique campaign rules.
So there we have it, phew! Although the future is looking grim for those aboard the Gallowdark, the box set is looking incredible and packed full of value.
