Ferret Frenzy comes to Kickstarter

I’m not sure if a dimension exists where I’m unable to write a news article about a game called Ferret Frenzy. I’m not even sure if I need to know anything more about the game, other than the title and the adorable cover art. Short and sweet I know, but hey, I don’t have to ramble on in every single article do I? I can give you lot a break for once. So, I’m off to pledge. TTFN.

What’s this, a contract? I didn’t sign no contract. What’s it say here… the Zatu blogger is bound by blood to construct an article with at least some semblance of content… Ah, maybe that is my signature. Fine. Let’s get into even more reasons why Ferret Frenzy is a good pledge. Party poopers.

Listen up, ferret fans. You and up to 5 friends (8 with expansion) take on the role of mischievous ferrets ransacking a house for things to make into… the Ultimate Stash. You’ve got 15 minutes to steal, smack and swipe the ultimate stash. On your turn, you’ll quickly draw cards to the floor. Taking them ends your turn. Things (such as long things and cozy things (underpants count as cozy things that your ferret wants to sleep on)) go directly to your stash to score you points. Mischief cards, meanwhile, hide in your hand. You’ll try to play this cards to manipulate chance or sabotage others. Be on red alert, because if someone draws a Frenzy card, you slap it! (No fear, there’s an alternative mode if you want a quieter game or you find some of the actions challenging.) The order of slapping dictates the order in which players get to steal a card.

There’s a promise here that I rather like: no AI has been used for the artwork. This is 100% hand-drawn and illustrated. I personally appreciate this after seeing a few too many upcoming games lately using AI – a few of those have admittedly been prototypes, but even there bland, gloomy AI can ruin the experience. The ferret illustrations are full of fun and mischief, and I love ‘em. The bright, fun cards feature over 50 unique things to steal from with lively flavour text. Another bonus here: the distinct iconography is intended for a colourblind-friendly experience. Nice and thoughtful design, dudettes.

Ferret Frenzy has slinked past its funding target by a long stretch, but there’s plenty of room for you to join in the furry, slappy fun. Pop along to this crowdfunding page and prepare to adore the stars of the cards.

About the author:

Steve is currently a freelance board game blogger, but often dreams of life as a pirate, or as a ghost herder in the Lake District, or as an evil estate agent who sells haunted houses for his own dark pleasure. Instead of figuring out how to do these jobs in real life like a normal lunatic, he tries to write about them instead, and releases the resultant books upon the unsuspecting world via famous digital bookstores. More books are bound to follow. Find this peculiar entity here.
