The weekly Lore cast stream introduced recently by Ravensburger has already proved to be a great way to improve the communication with all the players providing news, previews and fun anecdotes about the game. The latest of these streams included a full preview of the products expected to be released as part of Fabled, the 9th set of Disney Lorcana, and a first look to an amazing new Frozen-inspired gift box that will be released later in October.
The players and collectors attending UK Games Expo last weekend were also able to see all these products at Ravensburger stand but let me still summarize what we know so far.
First, Fabled set will release as planned on August the 29th at local hobby and game stores, while the wider release is planned on September the 5th. The cornerstone of the set will include as usual Booster Packs, Booster Boxes and an Illumineer’s Trove. As previously shown, the main Characters featured on these products will be Cruella de Vil, Mickey Mouse Steamboat Pilot, and Goofy, Max and Powerline. The Trove will actually feature Mickey Mouse, Brave Little Prince and Minnie that are not shown on the Booster boxes as happened for other sets. It is likely these two Characters were picked to celebrate the release of the new rarities in the set as we already know Mickey will be one of the Iconic cards that can be pulled from the set.
In addition, Fabled product line will include two Single Player Decks, two different playing mats featuring Mufasa, Ruler of the pride land and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, and two sets of card sleeves and Deck boxes with a new Mulan and our favourite trio from the 1995 Goofy movie. The new Mulan is also part of a new Amber-Sapphire Single player deck while the other one will be an Emerald-Ruby deck featuring (obviously) Powerline and Max. There have been a lot of discussions on the cards featured in these decks for various reasons. The main aspects that were noted are that the Ariel artwork featured on the Deck is very close to “Ariel, Singing Mermaid” from set 7 and that the Ruby Powerline card seems to have singer among their main traits. The discussion around the new Mulan featured on the Single Deck was instead quickly sorted when Ravensburger previewed it during the first Disney Lorcana TCG Grand Prix in Shanghai on the 1st of June. This choice does not surprise considering how Mulan holds a special meaning to all Chinese fans of the movie and Disney Lorcana and I think it was amazing to see not just the standard card but an impressive Enchanted version of it. Mulan is actually the second Enchanted unveiled for the Fabled set as we have already seen a majestic Lilo Enchanted earlier in the week during the Lore cast.
The last item shown during the livestream was a new themed Gift box, similar to Lilo one released as part of Archazia’s Island set. The new set will be themed around Frozen and will feature a very playable “Elsa, The Fifth Spirit” Promo card with an Alternative Artwork and a glimmer foil finish similar to the one used on the Promo card “Lilo, Escape Artist”. The Gift Box will double as storage box and it will also come with three dividers and five random booster packs. It has been confirmed the packs will be picked from the sets belonging to the current rotation therefore, as this Gift Box is expected to release on its own in October, it will include packs from set 5 to 9. It should be reminded that each box can include any number of packs from these sets making it an amazing product to play the Chaos Draft format: a beautiful new promo AND packs to play a super fun format all in one for a good price!
