Candy Land is becoming a real café this summer

One of the most recognisable board games ever made is about to become a full-sized interactive café - complete with candy castles, themed burgers, and a chocolate river fondue station.

Hasbro and Bucket Listers have officially announced the first-ever Candy Land Café, opening in San Diego on July 9 for a limited-time run.

Board To Reality

The experience transforms the classic Candy Land board game into an immersive walk-through dining attraction designed for families and fans of the original game.

Guests will move through themed environments inspired by locations from the board itself, including King Kandy’s Castle and Jolly’s Gumdrop Mountains, with oversized sweets, colourful pathways, and interactive sets built throughout the venue.

Rather than simply being a themed restaurant, the project seems to lean more heavily into the pop-up experience side of things, mixing food with activities and photo opportunities.

Sweet Activities

Alongside the café menu, visitors will also be able to take part in several themed activities during their visit.

That includes a Sweet Adventure Checklist, a DIY cookie decorating station, and various interactive elements spread across the attraction.

The whole setup appears designed to feel somewhere between a themed café, a family attraction, and a light immersive experience without becoming overly complicated or theatrical.

Which honestly feels pretty fitting for Candy Land.

Familiar Team

The project is being developed by Bucket Listers, the company behind other large-scale themed pop-up experiences including the Malibu Barbie Café and Golden Girls Christmas events.

Derek Berry, president of experiences at Bucket Listers, described the attraction as more than just a café, calling it “a full journey” through the world of the game.

Hasbro has also continued pushing further into location-based entertainment over the last few years, using classic brands as the basis for live experiences beyond traditional toys and board games.

Candy Menu

The food itself leans heavily into colourful comfort food and dessert-style presentation.

Menu items reportedly include rainbow burgers, chocolate BBQ sliders, themed milkshakes, and a chocolate river fondue experience, alongside cocktails and alcohol-free drinks.

So while the experience is clearly family-focused, it sounds like there’ll be enough novelty menu items to appeal to older visitors too.

Summer Launch

The Candy Land Café officially opens in San Diego, California on July 9.

At the moment, the experience is planned as a limited-time pop-up, though it would not be surprising to see Hasbro expand the idea further if the debut proves successful.

For anyone who grew up with the original board game, this may be one of the stranger - and probably most colourful - tabletop adaptations arriving this summer.
