Wow, this came out of nowhere, Viticulture Bordeaux has just been announced and it's due to be available next month. I'm a huge fan of Viticulture, and considered it a complete game, I've got the extra decks, Tuscany and also the co-op expansion Viticulture World.
Viticulture Tuscany remains one of the best board game expansions I own, expanding upon and fixing many of the small niggles I had with the base game so to say I'm excited about Viticulture Bordeaux is an understatement. I'm also delighted, that in classic Stonemaier fashion, the new expansion is coming out not too long after it has been announced, with none of that crowdfunding and waiting 18 months for arrival, this should be in our hands in a month or so.
So what do we know? Firstly, a new board, Bordeaux, which on the flipside has the original Viticulture board printed, meaning this should slot straight into your core box if you ditch the original board, which is excellent. There are also new expert cubes and an expert action to discover which will permanently upgrade existing actions for you.
You'll start the game with a starting grape and wine token which speeds up the beginning of the game, with a new resource to VP conversion at the end of the game to help make the most of your leftover wine. Also, like Viticulture Tuscany, we have a new wake up chart with new benefits on offer. All of this should encourage players to engage more in the winemaking process throughout the game, while also speeding up play.
I'm so excited to get my hands on Viticulture Bordeaux and luckily we don't have long to wait!
