Reiner Knizia's new game is already winning over reviewers

Bright, colorful game banner for "Fruit Island" showing vibrant fruit trees, a cartoon gorilla, and Kickstarter approval badge; playful and adventurous.

A new game from one of tabletop gaming's most celebrated designers hasn't even launched yet, and reviewers are already singing its praises!

Fruit Island, the latest title from legendary designer Reiner Knizia, is set to arrive on Kickstarter on June 9. Ahead of the campaign, advance copies have been making the rounds with reviewers across North America and the UK, and the early response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Strong First Impressions

Publisher Analog Game Studios shared a number of reactions from content creators who have had the chance to play the game before launch.

Among the most enthusiastic was Liege of Games, which described Fruit Island as "freaking fun", while Cloudy with a Chance of Meeples praised its classic Knizia feel. Board Game Addict UK also reported having "a blast" with the game, continuing a trend of positive early impressions.

For fans of Knizia's work, that's likely to be an encouraging sign. The designer is responsible for some of the hobby's most acclaimed titles, including Ra, Modern Art and Tigris & Euphrates.

A North American Debut

Fruit Island board game set includes a colorful board with fruit-themed paths, tokens spilling from a black bag, a rulebook, and a decorative coin. The box features vibrant illustrations of animals and fruits, creating an adventurous and playful tone

While Fruit Island has appeared elsewhere before, this Kickstarter campaign marks the game's first North American edition.

Analog Game Studios, the Toronto-based publisher behind Centrix, will launch the campaign exclusively through Kickstarter on June 9, giving players their first opportunity to secure the new edition.

Early Bird Extras

In the run-up to launch, the publisher has also opened a VIP Club for early supporters.

For a small reservation fee, members gain access to launch-day benefits, including a bonus copy of Kill the King, a social deduction card game developed by Will Hutcheson.

It's a move designed to encourage day-one backing, something that has become increasingly common among crowdfunding campaigns looking to build momentum from the start.

With Reiner Knizia's name attached and positive reviews already rolling in, Fruit Island could be one to watch when it arrives on Kickstarter this week!
