As someone who has been obsessed with Pixar since the days of VHS copies of Toy Story, this set felt less like a LEGO model and more like a love letter to everything that made me fall in love with animation in the first place.
The moment I saw the iconic lamp, I was instantly transported back to the classic Pixar logo sequence. It’s amazing how a collection of plastic bricks can capture so much personality. The finished model looks fantastic on display, and somehow LEGO has managed to recreate the curious, playful character of Luxo Jr. without needing any facial expressions at all.
The build itself is clever and satisfying. The lamp’s articulated joints allow you to pose it in different ways, making it feel almost alive. I found myself constantly adjusting the pose, trying to recreate scenes from the famous intro. The inclusion of the Pixar ball is the icing on the cake. Any Pixar fan will immediately recognise it, and it completes the display perfectly.
What impressed me most was the attention to detail. The designers clearly understood what makes Luxo Jr. special. This isn’t just a lamp. It’s the symbol of Pixar’s creativity, innovation and storytelling magic. Sitting on my shelf next to my Lego lightning McQueen it instantly became one of my favourite display pieces.
If I had one minor criticism, it’s that I would have loved a few more hidden references to classic Pixar films throughout the build. A tiny nod to Toy Story, Monsters, Inc. or Finding Nemo would have made it even more special. But that’s a very small complaint.
Overall, this set is pure Pixar magic in brick form. It captures nostalgia, creativity and character in a way few display models manage. Whether you’re a LEGO collector or someone who still gets a smile every time that little lamp hops across the screen, this is an easy recommendation.
